Found this diggin in a closet today. This was an incredible night all around
.
That was a really fun show. I stayed fairly sober (1 beer each set) & we drove all the way back to MKE after this one. We did this because we had a small group coming into town To stay at our place for the show at the Eagles/Rave the next night. We wanted to be able to host a proper pre game for that one.
Great pair of shows. I like the 11-9 show better as a whole, but still think 11-10 set 1 was the best chunk of music.
I’ve got a boxful of old UMlive discs. It was so cool being able to go home with the recording after the show.
On a separate note, I stumbled on my 7 inch vinyl the other day that has October Rain/Room To Breathe on it. Did anyone else grab one of these a few years back & was it worth opening? Kinda feel like I should just keep it sealed for collection purposes, although I don’t have much of an UM vinyl stash. I’ve got way more UMlive CDs and random stuff like cups from NYE ‘01 & the 2000th show, promo posters & that type of stuff.
It was so cool being able to go home with the recording after the show.
I never got tired of telling all my friends about that. I’d even point out the stacks and stacks of CD burners to them on the merch table pre-show. Was definitely some very cool shit for that time.

Id keep it sealed for sure, esp that one
It is really nice though. Studio cut of October Rain is really tite. That said if you haven’t opened it at this point minuswell preserve it
Nice, knew I should have grabbed that for October Rain. The studio cut of that one is extremely good.
Id keep it sealed for sure, esp that one
Curious why the ‘esp that one’ part of the comment. I admittedly have no idea if that was as a smaller, more limited release or is simply more sought after for whatever reason.
FWIW, I was leaning towards keeping it sealed before I even inquired, but I’m very curious now. I’ve heard an mp3 of the version on the vinyl, so more so curious about the actual release.
I just meant that as in it’s more unique since its a 7" single, rather than just a normal studio album on vinyl
Ahh, gotcha. Thanks.
this performance by BB was used by the Cubs today as the official anthem to start the game
Compared to other UM vinyl, that single hasn’t increased in value beyond the initial retail price. Sealed it might be worth $10 instead of $5.
Just out of pure curiosity, why does BB say it is 11:42 all day in No Comment? Really been digging 8/7/12 lately
I’ve wondered this too. There is a lot of numerology and religious symbolic importance to the number 42: https://www.ridingthebeast.com/numbers/nu42.php
John 11:42 is also a verse about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.
42 is also of course the meaning of life according to Douglas Adams, and we know Bayliss is a big sci fi nerd.
On the surface the lyrics read like a love song but it also seems like he’s speaking to a higher power, no? Perhaps as someone who’s been a not so great Christian as a youth and whose faith is gaining strength into adulthood or possibly at death?
“Bad decisions auctioned off” could be reference to a “bidding prayer” which are done at funerals to facilitate the deceased into Heaven.
“First time around” also has some Karmic connotations.
I think there’s a lot to unpack but it’s a much deeper song than it seems. I think it’s great and always welcome it at a show.
I ask that question to myself idk what to do. Chin is rested in my hands. Feel like I’m on 42

My guess is that it was 11:42 when he sang the original lyrical
If the original was 12/30/08 DBK second set closer you’re probably right
Although just listened to that version and there’s no mention of 11:42
Somebody’s gotta listen to every poptart and find out when he added the 11:42
