Thank god they don’t do the beatboxing over rapping thing in 40s anymore. I forget about it then I’ll hear an old show and man it sounds like shit to me.

Educated Guess studio version is one still one of their best studio songs of all time. I ordered Similar Skin from the Valentine’s Day sale and I am listening back for the first time in a few years. Really digging this album right now.

It’s pretty amazing to me the differences in what pulls people towards Umphreys in general. My opinions differ tremendously on this.

All in all I wasn’t big on similar skin the album, but I like the song

I wasn’t even huge on this album initially, but I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on today. Honestly haven’t listened to it since probably 2014 in entirety. I have a way better stereo set up compared to when it came out so that also makes a difference. These songs definitely sound better cranked through my Klipsch speakers.

This definitely isn’t their best or most cohesive but it captures their sound from that era so well. It sounds very much like a mainstream rock album and I think that was their goal.

Yeah I have always enjoyed Sim Skin pretty well, there are some real mehhh tracks though.

I was listening to the 10/23/19 show a few days ago and when Loose Ends popped up I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

I really enjoy Similar Skin. Probably a top 3 UM album for me. It does have Little Gift on it though which is a shame.

I think I’d enjoy Sim Skin way more if it didn’t sound the way it does. I agree that Educated Guess is one of their better studio tracks of the decade though. It’s You is the best UM record since Mantis though

That just made me think how I’d rank the post Mantis records and it made me feel old as shit realizing there have been 5 albums post Mantis already. Doesn’t feel that long ago to me.
