Hadn’t listened to this show in a while, and I used to listen to it all the time. Man, that 1st set is really something else. The Triple Wide and Tribute are not GOAT versions but they’re super, super high-quality. The Tribute fucking rips! And I forgot all about the Water jam!
On to set 2 now!

Did you not see that I was on to set 2? Obviously we all know the 2nd set is the business between the DBK with the massive Kula jam and that really good HBB. But I was strictly talking about the 1st set.

Sometimes I see things like this and wonder if I should ask if that was ever a common thing (b/c I’ve never seen anything but standard Kulas) or just keep my mouth shut to avoid the embarrassment lol. My pre-2012 knowledge is pretty sparse, admittedly.
To clarify, when I say massive Kula jam, the 2nd DBK jam was basically what became the instrumental version of Kula but it just rips so fucking hard.
Never listened to this. This is awesome. Slow instrumental Kula > fast instrumental Kula which is >>>> lyrical Kula. Looks like they neutered it right after this show too
Weird side note, I’ve seen 6 of the last 10 Kulas
I fuck with Kula. I always dig it in the encore spot too.
Damn I kind of miss UM right now. Not going to listen, but still miss them.

I actually listened to a full show the other day and was like “holy shit I miss Umphrey’s. Both listening to and going to shows”.
Unfortunately it was a 2015 show so my excitement went away when they started chugging along midway through a jam and played a TLS Rocker II
