It makes the intros more enjoyable when they don’t open up every show with one, especially since it makes the formula less predictable. Plus some in particular are pretty cool ala Flamethrower, TNCIM, Cummins Lies, Jekyll & Hyde to name a few
I just don’t understand why they play Le Blitz, Wrong Guy all the damn time but almost never play the best ones, like those you mentioned.
Catshot was one of the earliest I think and still gets me fired the fuck up
Catshot to open the Mantis set 4/10/09 blew my mind
Gents is a perfect opener too.
Have always thought this song actually deserves to pop up a later in a set. Gents seems to be broader than just an opener, for me. Love those heavy riffs.
Bring back Cummins Lies
nipple trix ftmfw
Depth Charge was always one of my favorites. Mainly bc of 5/25/13 Scamp. DC>HBB in the pouring rain is an all time favorite memory
Gotta shout out Gurgle and Drink My Drank too.
Whenever Gurgle would start, our friend (Uncle Joey) would take a huge swig of his beer and just start gurgling beer out his mouth. Made me laugh every fucking time.
Gurgle & Catshot are
love the intros and I’ll add October Rain. sometimes the transition into the next song is pretty awkward though.
20 minute Flamethrower is coming
Does the bort still hate bridgeless or are we far away enough from 2014 to have let it go?
I love the dueling guitars at the end. Always have since back when I first got on the train. I remember a bridgeless from one of the early podcasts <=25 that blew my mind when I was younger, wish I knew which one it was
As long as bridgeless isn’t standard I like it
As long as they don’t do some shit like leaving Mantis unfinished to finish it.
I will always love Bridgeless. 2/7/2004 was the first show I ever heard, so I associate it with being an unjaded noob.
When did people hate Bridgeless? One of their better compositions.
Time to listen to the best version ever, 11/18/08
Bridgelss is great but I group it in to the list of songs that make a show predictable. One of the main reasons I love UM is because you never know what is coming next…
However when you have these songs, you either know its going to be a set ender or encore:
AIT
Bridgeless
N2F

JaJunk
^^Could probably add to it but these stand out
Not saying it is a bad thing because those songs are amazing - just very predictable.
