Love the new (or old idk I’m behind the curve) single

Give the whole album a spin

Yeah just need an occasion to sit down and listen to a whole album. A little too all over the place to do that today.

I completely missed LW too

Probably listened through it 3-4 times in the last two days. I’ve generally liked their stuff, but haven’t clicked with one of their albums like this before. There’s some real catchy shit in here. Maybe I’m just coming around to them - time to revisit some of their previous albums.

love to hear that though this is nothing like any of their other stuff tbh

Just noticed that Tame Impala has a tour this fall. I wonder if they all live in LA now, allowing them to avoid the same issues as Gizz?

I have listened to the album a bunch of times, and am definitely enjoying it a lot. I for sure like it better than KG and LW. I just love how this band keeps pushing the envelope and coming up with new sounds, and I love seeing how much everyone’s opinions on each of their albums differs.

My favorite songs on the album are Blue Morpho, Interior People, Catching Smoke, and Black Hot Soup.

That being said, a lot of people are putting this in their “A” tier of albums, and it isn’t remotely close to that for me. It’s probably like my 7th or 8th favorite KGATLW album.

They have so many albums of different styles I’m sure the rankings are all over the place. I’m a n00b but out of the 6-7 albums I’ve listened to Fishing for Fishies is my favorite and I’m going to assume that doesn’t rank very high on many folks’ lists.

Funny that you mentioned everyone’s differing opinions because I think Shanghai is my favorite track and it’s not even in your whole list of favorites. It’s so true though. Gizzard has a little something different that everyone might like.

I don’t know I kinda got bored and tuned out halfway through. I enjoyed it less as it went on I think due to being kinda samey. That’s how I felt about Infest the Rats Nest too. I might like it more on another lesson, but on my drive into work yesterday I felt like there wasn’t enough variety.

Shanghai is certainly an honorable mention, that song is great.

I agree with this sentiment.

anyone have a good “how to get into KGLW” flowchart for a noob?

Probably gonna get a million different replies. I just rec’d this to my brother in law (who is a KGatLW noob) yesterday.

butterfly 3000 > sketches of brunswick east > polygondwanaland > quarters > KG > LW

thanks.

was looking for a flowchart too. just did some googling and suppose i can dive in to one of these. i would assume any time these get posted they are immediately obsolete with the constant releases

Those charts are actually really cool. I don’t think Mind Fuzz is a bad place to start at all. Gizzard has so many albums with so many different sounds/vibes/genres but that album does a good job representing what I personally would consider the band’s most classic sound that they are known for. It’s upbeat and cohesive and I hope you enjoy.
