Jason Isbell

I really love the Nashville sound. Use to spin it on the radio all the time

Southeastern will most likely be the consensus. It’s a true masterpiece.

Other than Southeastern, my personal favorites are Something More Than Free and Reunions. I’m not a huge fan of Nashville Sound

Here We Rest kind of gets forgotten about being released before his sober renaissance but I’ve always really liked that record too

Yea I’m hot and cold on the Nashville Sound. The first half of the record is really strong but it kind of sags on the back end

His best songs outside of Southeastern are all on Drive By Truckers records.

Juat scooped tickets to see Isbell at the Dillon Amphitheater this weekend, very excited to see him at that venue especially since I’ve only seen him at a fest so far. Also never seen Deer Tick.

Nice. Deer Tick is good live, that’ll be a really fun show. First time I saw them was opening for The Hold Steady like 9-10 years ago and they brought out Vanessa Carlton for a guest spot. Turns out she’s married to the singer, definitely was a wtf moment at that show lol.

Nice, my brother will be at that show. Sounds like a good time

When We Were Close is easily my favorite song on the new record. Love the Townes Van Zandt /Steve Earle nod with the Rex’s Blues/Ft. Worth Blues references.

Classic Isbell story-telling.

I still like “Miles” the best, at least musically, a little more complex and wandering in styles.

Really excited for that lineup here on Saturday

Ft. Worth Blues is one of my favorite Earle songs and it’s similar to the themes of when we were close. Earle was on tour when he found out about Townes Van Zandts death and wrote that song, similar to the musician in Isbells song discussing his dead mentor.

Great song. Definitely the most DBT-esq song he’s done in a long time as well.

Looks like Mike McCready from Pearl Jam sat in last night.

Fuckin boomers man.

Big fan of the poster tonight, first one I’ve bought in a while for any artist

Also first tune during setbreak between Deer Tick and Isbell was Gizzard Fishing for Fishies. Hell ya.
