I’ve listened to those jams plenty of times but I’d rather listen to 10/16/13 Conduit or 9/26/15 Ringo. It’s just personal preference.

I’m 43 and don’t listen to any Dead because I’ve never been a big fan, I was a grunge era kid who really started listening to music in 90/91. Jerry’s passing didn’t affect me but Layne and Shannon passing away really upset me. That was right when I was getting into Phish in 95/96. Clifford Ball were my first Phish shows…
I do have an attachment to 04-08 UM because that is when I started seeing them and saw a large chunk of my shows.
I’ve always enjoyed BB’s vox bc I’m a fanboi.

I also want to add that the IC > Synco isn’t that interesting to me at all and all I listen to is UM improv mixes especially from that era.

Yeah, that jam is wildly overrated imo. It blew my mind the first time I heard it. But the more I listen the more boring it gets. It’s good, but some people regard that as best ever holy grail UM. Which is not even close imo.

I fell in love with IC > Synco the first time I heard it and for me it WAS the holy grail of UM. Not so much these days. Scamp 08 Fir is better I think. ‘08 has a lot of great jams that are just as good or better

The major peak with Jake shredding in IC Synco is incredible and it has some other great moments but also so many parts that are boring and sluggish IMO.
There’s honestly a lot of jams from 06-08 I prefer and even more jams from 2019 SIYD YOLO #millenial

There are a lot of pre Mitchell SBDs that sound quite good especially if you are listening to higher fidelity mp3 or lossless. KB rightly gets shit on here but back in the day he had UM sounding very good.
