I dunno I hear Jake do stuff that doesn’t mesh with the band all the time and he has his share of flubs.
And the ability to parse out the playing of your biggest influences is something I think most guitarists who reach that level could do.

I’m late to the party with the current debate on this thread, but just like the amount of improv being subjective, so is the quality of the improv. I’m less inclined to favor a 20-minute Untzy jam and get more excited about shorter jams that cover more ground and have several lego sections that span multiple genres.

I usually overlook flubs I’m a faded not jaded vet when it comes down to my position on the band these days but I listen to every soundboard and I’ve heard a lot of noticeable flubs and I have a tenth of the ear @Random_Ass has for this stuff. I’ll fluff Umphreys all day here I’m all about padding my show count but the fact of the matter the band is playing reserved and somewhat sloppy right now.

Amount of improv is objective, quality is subjective. I was just zeroing in on amount because of @Gregaforce7’s impression that Charlotte was lacking in quantity of improv.

I care way less about flubs than I do quality and quantity of improv. A show can be sloppy but still entertaining, or solidly performed but boring.
