Has UM's popularity declined?

The midwest is mid.

As someone that lived in the Midwest from 1998-2009, I can attest that the region is very Mid.

I’m such a basic Midwest bitch that I still Stan for the Midwest.

Yeah you’ve gotta earn your stripes if you want to be as miserable as the rest of this fucking board!

I still don’t know why everyone is ragging on that show last night. Great they didn’t play the songs you wanted for a Madison show (whatever the fuck that means) but the jams delivered I thought. There was improv everywhere in both sets and set 2 was really fun especially the first half of that set.

EDIT: for the record to this is coming from sober ears and not some drug fueled, drunken bender, fluff fest like I’m normally on.

Yep, I don’t understand it either.

Now, to be fair, I see so few shows these days that I don’t get as hung up on song choice as I once did. Also, I’ve yet to be able to listen, so I’m only going off of how it felt in real time & in person. I felt that the jams (mostly) felt fairly loose and patient, and a couple moments really felt relatively special. I wouldn’t choose/write that set list, but I felt like they were pretty dialed in. Even with The Floor not getting any jam, I couldn’t really complain since it was surrounded by other legit chunks of improv.

I’ve learned to no longer “expect” anything better from a Thursday in a city they used to love, but expectations aside, I just thought set 1 was full on bad. Set 2 was fun though

I feel like expecting to enjoy more than 50% of the drug band shows you see is a guaranteed fail.

Jambands are like baseball. .290 avarage is an All-Star.

That said, chances are UM were being pussies and should have thrown the MWpeeps a bone.

Edit: just looked at the setlist. BB as fuck. Only six songs per set tho so he must have lost a bet.

When No Diablo is the bust out for the evening it’s a little rough. I’m also surprised at how much BB still likes playing Higgins/Puppet/Floor sooo much.

Because they RAWK

Higgins/Puppet/Floor at the last 2 shows I’ve attended (Sylvee & the Vic). Bayliss’d

Yeah same here, except I also saw UMBowl so 3 standard Floors in the last 4 shows. Bayliss refuses to jam The Floor in IL/Wisco.

I really enjoyed Floor as closer at the Cap, I think that’s a solid spot for it. I’ll always love that song but if there’s not gonna be a jam, I’m mostly over hearing it at this point

The sad thing is BB thinks he is giving the home region a treat with those setlists.

I kinda think more people like Bayliss sets than Joel sets tho. The dash bort is the minority.

I like The Floor, it’s a killer tune even standard, but it is so bizarre that they never jam it around here.

There was a cool Floor with improv from the 3 night Chicago run February 2014. But you’re right, I can’t think of any other versions than that though off the top of my head.

One of the Bridgeview Floors had a metal jam with some Dio teases.

Free Nugs stream = Essentially a festival set

I think that’s all we can reasonably expect. I walk out when WBG is in the encore slot, though.
