Grateful Dead Shows that Steal Your Face

No real specific show recs but I’m planning on listening to Europe ‘72 for its 50th anniversary each day this year. Pretty excited even if it is a little repetitive

Not a bad idea! I would fail at that immensely but I like it.

i did a run through each show when the box set was released a few years ago, but don’t think I’ve listened to any of the individual shows, since. 50th anniversary is a great idea

Went out to move my “wife’s” car last night and this Shakedown was playing on XM. Funky stuff, whole show is pretty good from a year we don’t talk about very often on here.

'79 had some fantastic Shakedowns. The 12/5/79 version from Chicago is one of my favorites.

Charlie Miller tape of 12/11/79

Funny, I started listening with that Charlie Miller tape. The vox were super clear but Jerry was super low in the mix to the point where I wasn’t sure he was playing during the verses of Jack Straw. There were also some audio quirks, so I switched to the Mason Taylor aud and thought it was better quality overall. YMMV

I made my judgement based off the first 3 mins of Shakedown so you very well may be right. going to give this show a spin after I finish Ike & Tina’s Nutbush City Limits album

I caught an early 80s ('80/'81) set that I want to say was from Philly when I was driving back from Tennessee. It still haunts me that I didn’t write down the date because that show ripped. I love late 70s/early 80s setlists. I recently became a big Samson & Delilah guy. Dave’s Pick’s 31 is great

Love this show. When I started to really dive into them this was one of the first recommended shows I listened to.

Fantastic photo from this show. Warren Zevon got booed off the stage prior to the Dead. Love reading about old shows
