Grateful Dead Shows that Steal Your Face

I’ve always felt that Jerry had some of the more inspiring/inspired solos during Brent tunes in the mid-late ‘80s. We Can Run has had some serious stand out versions as well. I’m not always the biggest fan when the slow Brent tune initially pops up while listening to a show, but after Jerry takes over & throws down some fury on the guitar, my feelings on that usually shift fairly quickly.

One of my all time favorite slow Jerry ballads, for sure…

Take a look at poor Peter…

August '71 is heat yall :fire:

I agree. Let’s start from July 31st and work our way through that whole August pigpen swan song.

Yesterday I finished this heady heater of a show (7/31/71) from the Yale Bowl in New Haven, CT. Nobody will see this post, but I guess I gotta give credit where credit is due to the center of the east coast jam scene

I read all the posts in this section. I just happen to be on my own, sporatic listening schedule.

I was talking about all the east coast new haven fluff fam that don’t really seem super down with the dead vibe

But thanks for reading my personal listening journal. I dig that

Continuing through august 71. Today I’m listening to the show on the 4th. They played the library at the Terminal Island Correctional facility. Owsley was locked up and somehow the dead negotiated playing a benefit show in the library. A bunch of L was smuggled in, and the whole prison got lit

Solid truckin’ out the gate. Jerry made a prison joke “lots of times we play shows and people are trying to break in”

Bobby just got boo’d hard after his yellow dog story. Bertha is electric. I am very happy so far. Smiling big. There is no better song about an oscillating fan in the universe and that is a fact

Listening to 1972/05/03… Def have listened to Europe ‘72 a boat load but haven’t listened to many full shows from that tour. Looking forward to getting to that big ol’ Good Lovin’. Also, Bertha openers are so dope.

Anyone have any specific show recs from Europe '72?
