Easter in Quarantine

The Haunt is a much more interesting song musically, and has much better lyrics.

I think part of my distaste for this is the lyrics are just so on-the-nose.
“Looking through a screen, trying to stay clean.” or whatever it is.

I appreciate the hell out of the band continuing to make music, but I just don’t care for this song.

No I get it. I wasn’t defending the song. I didn’t make it through the whole thing. Just saying I love the haunt. Only seen it once.

definitely my favorite song to hear live, i’ve requested it twice for my birthday before lol.

I’m probably in the minority but I’m selfishly enjoying this situation for the time being. I’ve had more time than ever to practice and play drums. I probably won’t have this much down time ever again until I retire realistically.

Not surprised everyone seems to hate this song but I’m kinda in the minority here. I’m mixed on it, dislike the vocals and lyrics, really like the instrumentation (even the sax). UM never really goes simple with the instruments, and this track plays super stripped down and raw…also one of the things I love about UM and jambands in general is their versatility in genres, and these slow-tempo, introspective songs are super rare. Both of those things make this track refreshing imo.

That being said I wouldn’t really want to hear this song live, it depresses me and feels almost too intimate given the context. It’s got a way different vibe than a Pequod or Xmas During Wartime or something.

I’d rather hear this than another Xmas in wartime live.

From what I recall, Chicago was the result of Browning volunteering the band to do the song for the Chicago tourism board. When Browning left the road, he promised 100k in increased revenue to justify his redundant management position, hence saying yes to Chicago. While some things like headphones have been innovative, Chicago was a prime example of needing to say no. Easter in Quarantine is another example of needing to say no.

I’m an extremely extroverted person and I live by myself. This has been a nightmare. My mental and emotional health deteriorates everyday.

Man I’m sorry to hear that, going through this whole thing solo would be a lot tougher 100%. I decided to ride this thing out and shelter in place with my family (mainly because I hate the people who live below me and would not want to be stuck with them this whole time). I’m sure not everyone has that luxury.

Hopefully this passes soon and your mental health is able to recover

My lukewarm take on the song is…it is obvs a novelty song and will never be played live. It’s like UM trying some shiny top 40 pop song and as far as that goes…it’s not bad.

A few borters heckled Bayliss at a 30db show to play Chicago and he just laughed and said that song bought him a Subaru so take that for what you will.
