I feel like you said that and then I repeated it back to you on a different car ride. Or did you hear it from someone else originally?
I heard it from somebody a long time ago and usually just treat it like my own original thought
I disagree, but I can see why people think that. I don’t agree at all that 1/27 is better than 11/2 as far as 2011 shows.
I mean it’s not even close really.
1/27/11 > 11/2/11
1/27 just doesn’t have that “sound”.
7:15 more minutes of improv
1/27/11 > 11/2/11
So by your logic biscuits > UM.
I’ll meet you there.
I’m actually following your logic so thanks for agreeing
1/27/11 > 11/2/11
Quality > Quantity
There needs to be a certain amount of improv in a show to satisfy me by virtue of them being a jam band. I don’t go to shows to see a ton of standard songs
Complaining about them not jamming long enough and then telling me a show that they jammed less at is better than a show they jammed more at does not compute
2009 is a better year than anything from 2014-2019. More creativity, less scripted jams.
Also 7/1/11 is better than 1/27/11 and 11/2/11
Hit me with your top 3 09 bangers.
I’d agree 2014-2017 but they definitely turned the corner in 2018-19
7/11/09
2/14/09
Song selection: 11/2
Improv quality: tie
Improv amount: 1/27
Encore: 11/2
2-1 11/2 wins
You mean the show with 22 minutes less of improv than 1/27? Nah dawg
Yeah a 29 minute AIT is cool but then you have 0 improv for the rest of the set. I’d prefer a 12-15 min AIT if it means I get a couple more jams throughout the set.
I can just pack my shit up and go home after that AIT
Something worth revisiting during all of these shows
7/16/09
12/29/09
1/22/09
2/13 or 2/14/09
5/30/09
8/27/09
10/3/09
10/10/09
11/12/09
11/18/09
I’ve definitely heard a good amount of these but I haven’t dove back into old UM in awhile. Those soundcaressed SBD’s just sound like absolute @ass which is another reason why I prefer newer UM
how many fireworks did they shoot off during the second set? No pyro, no party.
during this show there were fireworks going off during the Tribute Jam and a few other times during set two.
