I don’t think it’s the worst song in the world even if there’s a thousand songs I’d rather see in person before it, but that is a head scratcher of a placement for it.
Eh, they love to play their mellow tunes 2nd song in the 1st set. It makes a lot more sense when the opener is a big jam song though and we’re already having a cooldown. Ideally GITV would build to something…this just extends the buildup for no reason.
GITV has been criminally underplayed as of the last year or so. LTP 46 shows ago (9/1/2022) and only played twice last year. Such a fantastic instrumental in the neighborhood of Eat. I just don’t understand why they dont sprinkle those tunes in setlists more frequently. Happy to see it pop up, it’s pretty much a perfect opener
Glad that Wappy overall is starting to get its sealegs back with a 15 minute version here. it was one of the 1st jam vehicles that I “got” when I was 1st getting into em
This Wappy is fantastic! Definite jam of the year nominee. The uplifting dance parties are back Dump is pretty nice as well. They instantly lock into a very interesting creative groove and ride it out.
The rest of this show is…up and down. But having standout jams like these will help a show a lot.
I appreciate KevAI processing the show for notable jams so I don’t have to sift through anything that doesn’t deliver. Going to spin the Wappy this afternoon!
Always October, Staircase and Push & Pull is way too many lowkey tunes for one set. I’m guessing the vibe was a little weird during that set. That said, on tape the three jams are quite good, and I actually like the short 4-5 min Floor jam the most. That gets heated, and Jake and Bayliss are really locking in on some killer prog riffs.
Dump, 2x2, and Wappy were all good in the 2nd set. This 2x2 is one of the Phishiest sounding UM jams in a while, and like you said, Wappy really takes off. Last jam of the run might be the best.
