Lolol google told me “Why you so cute?”
@gatroe going for it
Brendan had the crowd scream “Fuck you, Kyle” at me at 4848 for my buddy’s 100th show request. Weirdest boner, ever.
JesusH, how dumb was I last night? 132, brah.
Damn that 10/18 Looks > FF > Conduit > N2F segment is straight fire. Best N2F reprise I have heard in years.
So I’ve been on a huge listening streak of late summer through Halloween UM. A few notes that I have about this run:
- While I agree with @Bron-yr-Aur about the 10/18 Looks > FF > N2F segment being straight fire, the better show of this run is actually 10/17, IMO, because of the song selection and flow.
- 8/22 and 8/23 are, for lack of a better term, underrated; maybe not talked about on here a lot is a more accurate term. They both are great back to back shows. I was initially skeptical about 8/22 just because the setlist is so “songy”, but if any show from '19 is the epitome of “don’t judge a show by the setlist”, it would be this one. 8/23 is just an all around good show with a really nice first set and the IDM > Ringo > Virtue > Ten Years Gone segment in the 2nd set is almost 50 minutes of fire.
- The 9/21 Slippery Rock show is a pretty nice one also. I really dig the Attachments > Day Nurse in particular.
- The Halloween Bridgeless > Ocean Billy is flat-out awesome! Might be the best Ocean Billy of '19.
- The 8/31 show, to me, isn’t as bad as advertised. Both Nurses, especially, are excellent.
- The 8/25 Spires is a great, fly under the radar type of jam.
- The 8/15 show is my 2019 spirit animal. SOTY
Going back to July, 7/5 is a great show that gets shadowed by the 7/3 Anaheim - the 2nd set seriously delivers the goods, and this Booth Love was an outstanding encore. Speaking of 7/3, I’ll just come out and say it - this Linear is better than Seattle '13. I love it more and more with each listen. Definitely a JOTY candidate.
Yeah the end of this jam fucking crushes, but I just clocked 4 minutes of Regulate with Roundabout teases. 6:00-10:00. Jam goes from 10:00-14:47. Myers does go fucking IN but I can think of 10+ 2019 jams I’d take over this. What am I missing fam?
I’ll take the 9 mins of pure golden UM that is Seattle Linear 10 times out of 10 over 7/3. 4/4 > 7/3. I’ll have the convo about 8/30 > 7/3 but as the ending of a monster Cut Off > Eat > Linear segment, I’d go 8/30 > 7/3.

No way is 7/3 better than Seattle 13.
But it’s still damn good and a top 5 version ever. If this was just a straight Regulate jam you would be onto something but from 7m - 10m while Pony is playing the Regulate bassline the rest of the band is taking it in a different direction, Joel on the haunting spooky keys, Jake soloing and eventually introducing the Christopher Cross Sailing riff out of nowhere to lighten the mood before they go back into a bit of the Roundabout/Regulate mash-up. I think we are all tired of mash-ups but when they spontaneously happen in a jam like this with three different teases coalescing it is more than just a “Regulate jam.”
And yeah the peak on this one is absurd, gotta be the most sustained, hair-raising peak of 2019. Just when you think they are just about done crushing a huge Bayliss peak, Jake takes over and rips a goddamn hole in the sun.
Nice summary Pook. I agree with you, 10/17 is a hugely underrated show. Second set is incredible, the Dump City, Miami > WW&S > DBK is a monster improv segment.
8/31 Nurses are fantastic, I am sure the Night Nurse w/ Casey and Alric is one of my most listened to tracks of 2019…it’s a concise jam but just goes down so smooth and the guest spots are a treat, everyone playing off of each other so well.
I don’t think I’ve ever relistened to 8/31. I hated that show in person
same
I listened to this show without high expectations and I thought it was a pretty decent show. I understand attendance bias, though. The Portland OR ‘14 show was pretty bad and I haven’t listened to it since. I had fun hanging with some of the borters but that was it.
On the other hand I also really like the 8/15/14 St Louis show but @Albert.Ross really didn’t care for it in person.
Yeah it had its moments, mainly Day Nurse and Mantis, but as a whole the show fell super flat for me in person, might be because of my huge 2019 boner at the time and what seemed like a great venue for an absolute heater. 9/1 was worse lol
I don’t even remember this show. Pre show dank mexican might have been the highlight.
The thing I remember most about that show is the great Santora poster
wasn’t even that great IIRC but the hangs were solid. @sociablehodor left his shades at the restaurant RIP
Nerds
Interestingly enough, I’ve listened to both 8/31 and 9/1 a few times each, and I didn’t think either show sucked. Granted, they’ll never be confused for the FL run or Brooklyn Run shows (not to mention that they DO pale in comparison to the rest of August), but they’re weren’t terrible. I’d rather listen to these 2 than the 2/2 show, to be perfectly honest.
