Wrapped In The Round

Trolling for the like record huh

Nah. Just playing -bort sociology

Sunday shows are overhyped and overrated. I don’t think any of my top 5 favorite UM shows have happened on a Sunday. Might be different for other yambands but for UM I’d rather catch them near the beginning of a tour (Thursday/Friday) segment than the end (Saturday/Sunday).

Agreed. Smaller venues in smaller markets seem to produce the best “jam worthy” shows. At least from what I have experienced.

Thursday UM shows > Sunday UM shows. They’re more likely to be in smaller markets before larger runs.

I miss tour

Even for a 2 night run in a bigger market my tastes tend to prefer the first night than the second. It almost always seems to work out that way.

Yep. The mid week show in Des Moines is always better than the Red Rocks show that weekend.

Standard Saturday fest set > Thursday small market > Sunday show

This might be true but would you rather see them play a roller skating rink in bumfuck Iowa or Red rocks in heady Colobrahdo?

definitely a roller rink in iowa.

This was a trick question and you failed miserably, I wouldn’t see UM because this is a biscuits board.

I can GITV to Des Moines and have a great time for just the cost of gas, a ticket and booze. My only friends who still like UM live there and get down hard. It’s also one of the most consistent markets for decent UM shows.

Red Rocks is a destination show and requires more vacation days, flights, hotels, etc. I’m less excited to pay hundreds of dollars to get Bayliss’d with better scenery.

Any early-in-the-week Umphrey’s show that’s not a holiday >>>>>>>>>>>>> Friday, Saturday, or Sunday Umphrey’s shows

UM is pretty much only good Monday-Thursday

Sunday shows used to be tons of fun but when they changed their tour model (circa ‘15 or ‘16) to include more multi-night runs and less driving, the Sunday shows started to suffer (both in quality and quantity).

Oh for sure. While that 2012 Sac show is the best UM show I’ve seen, another Sunday show is also one of the worst UM shows I’ve ever seen. 1/21/2018. What a letdown that was.
