one of my best friends just became a firefighter/EMT in Northbrook (semi wealthy neighborhood north of Chicago), almost every call he’s gotten has been for opioid overdose. He’s been working there for almost a year and he’s responded to one fire, 4 or 5 elderly people falling or thinking it was the end but he’s narcanned over 40 people already.

100%. Watching it be used was wild, one person required two shots and it was straight of Pulp Fiction.
Shot → Chest flew straight up → The craziest projectile vomiting ever.

So ridiculous. Also, people that decide to be firefighters are some of the wildest characters I’ve ever met. Hearing stories about the adrenaline rush when running into a burning building almost makes me want to try it, once.

it’s the life. HIs older brother runs a gym nearby and he constantly talks about being a firefighter if he could go back and change it up.
They pay you as if you fight fires every day when in reality he’s having “squad dinners” and golfing 5 rounds per week. I’m sure some districts are brutal and see a lot of action but this man is just chilling all day.

wake up at 4am
Run the 5am, 6am, 7am & 9am classes
Lunch + Nap
Run the 3pm, 4pm & 5pm classes
Train a client from 7pm-9pm
repeat
younger brother:
go to the fire station on Monday
eat pasta and play Xbox for 20 hours
golf Tuesday and Wednesday
Go back to the Fire Station on Thursday
repeat
drives me nuts. I shoulda been a firefighter.
