I’m not so sure that will be a lock for a sell out. People do like the novelty of Brooklyn Bowl, and it’s new, but it’s $55 (and not even that intimate of a show to warrant that price) and on a Wednesday. And UM hasn’t been trending in the right direction with ticket sales. I thought I’d be in for this, but I was thinking the capacity was a little less than 1000 for some reason. Will likely be nuts to butts if sold out.
Penn’s Peak is one of my favorite venues. In the 1500-2000 range, it’s probably my favorite. Just an awesome room. Highly unlikely that this will sell out and even when it’s pretty packed, it feels roomy still. The only downside, as someone else has mentioned, there is nothing really close to the venue and transportation is scarce. Not talking super far, but a 10 min drive to the venue on country-like roads. I REALLY wish UM would go back to playing there during other seasons. There is some great camping around there and the lot is AMAZING for tailgating/pregaming.
Man, end of January shows in Detroit…always a roll of the dice buying tickets early, drive down from the UP can be Brutal during that time of year…I guess as long as the Bridge stays open…I remember driving down for a show in Ann Arbor the year they had the Borders Bookstore show an it took us damn near 14 hours to drive back…
driving back to Chicago from 1/30/15 Detroit was terrible. 94 was so brutal, we tailgated semi-trucks every chance we got in Eastern Michigan. 20 inches of snow fell in between the end of the show and kickoff of the SuperBowl.
I was in Chicago for SCI. We didn’t even bother driving back. Extended our stay another night to wait it out. Never seen Chicago so dead before. It was weird seeing the streets completely empty at noon.
My parents live 25 minutes from AA. Took me like two hours to get to their house after that show. Brutal weather.
The day after that Detroit ‘15 show, we left super early to get back to MKE for the Super Bowl. We had only made it to the south bend area when the kick off was nearing. Luckily, my GF has family in La Port, so we were able to get to safety & watch the game. Crazy weather.
Not sure how this got connected to snuckas post, but was supposed to be iamkickinit…
Made a lifelong friend at that Ann Arbor show, and talked him & his (now) ex wife into crashing in our hotel room vs them driving back to Niles. They were dead set on getting back, as they had a newborn at grandmas house to get back to, but as soon as they hit the freeway, they called me, turned around & came back. That was an insane ice storm that night.
that’s hilarious. I was driving back to Niles (IL) as well
I was exhausted having drove up from Cincinnati so my buddy was driving, I mentioned hitting a rest area and sleeping out the storm but he was adamant that we would be buried and needed to keep moving. I fell asleep with the 6/27/09 palindrome on a CD bumping, I’d wake up every 20 minutes to ask if he was okay which he was. The CD played 3 times before I switched it for him, it was too white knuckle to lose any focus on that stretch.
We literally tailgated every chained semi that rode through. So many cars spun out in the ditch, so many sketchy moments of 0 visibility.
