You should get out more
spot on.
people be forgetting the 33 minute Paris monster.
they hear one with two jams and go “oh, this is nice.”
Does a song have to be “one of the best versions of all time” to enjoy the hell out of it?
On -bort it does. @Random_Ass is right
@StoneJackBaller and @DiabetesCOLE I’m glad you’re joining the convo. If you want to have your votes logged on the closed polls just DM me and I’ll send you a list of the songs.
Also @SouthernMittens, you’re in the same boat, just DM me if you wish you had voted on everything prior.
Not sure what to make of your 1 vote @hbbubblebath but offer is open to you too.
Send me a list brother, happy to put my votes in
Sure. Im down
I’m still salty about being in France that day but missing that show.
That’s not the question. Is it “S” tier if they haven’t played a top version in many years (or at best, top versions are few and far between)?
lol you hate on UM all the time but take it so personally when someone doesn’t agree with something you like
Seems weird to me to use “when was the last best version” as a metric about how the song ranks, but I’ve already said that I’m voting on how much I like the composition, not the improv.
That’s not really my metric, but I’m certainly considering how I feel about seeing the song live in any given show. HBB was once a top 5 UM song for me, but I got tired of seeing it be the same thing almost every time and taking up 10-15 minutes of a set. Even the Caverns one has the same standard first jam.
You should get out less.
This is why I’m not considering this because there are so many variables. I don’t listen to much UM aside from show’s I’ve been to. So I don’t always know what the “current state of the art” is for a given song. And I know it’s a lottery whether I’ll see a great version of any song. Which is why I’m voting on composition because the skeleton of the song doesn’t change. But that’s me.
Idk, I guess I havent really ever been burned by HBB and I certainly haven’t seen it close to as many times as some others. Definitely not burnt out on it and I would honestly take a standard HBB at any show. Love the song.
Also, coming off seeing the best version they’ve ever played makes a difference
Have there been other songs with the spread as large as Higgins is currently (S to tha D)?
Based on only the closed polls:
- Yes, two songs have votes in every tier: Booth and FF.
- Another 15 songs have votes in 5 tiers (either S to D or A to F).
– There’s nothing with an “S” vote that doesn’t also have As and nothing with an “F” vote that doesn’t also have Ds.
The 15 that span 5 tiers are: 40s, Alex, Anchor, Andy’s, Bad Friday, BLBC, Cem 1, Conduit, Deeper, DBK, Drac, Eat, Educated Guess, End of the Road, and Go To Hell. Only 4 of those songs are the A to F group and those are Bad Friday, Deeper, Educated Guess, and Go To Hell. The other 11 are the S to D group.
There’s also only 6 songs so far where the span is limited to only 3 tiers:
- S to B = 2x2, All in Time, Blue Echo
- A to C = Get In the Van
- B to D = Comma Later, Cut the Cable
Not sure which is worse: voting Booth in S tier or voting FF in F tier.
Booth isn’t that good but FF is a garbage song that produces great jams
