Of course I think most folks here still like seeing them. I still don’t understand the one set summer tour. If money is tight and ticket sales are down why invite more openers that won’t move tickets and hurt the bottom line? My only complaint about show format.
I actually think 2024 has been a solid year from what I’ve listened too and the handful of shows I got to see this year. I just can’t tour as much with kids and family.

I personally think Umphrey’s is killing it in 2024. 7.4 is the most complete show they’ve played in years. They just keep making bad business moves that aren’t helping move the needle. They need to fire Factor cut Saxton a check for whatever gets him off the couch reinvest in their light show and play a bunch of festivals next year like twice or three times as many as they played this year. I mean for a band hungry for exposure, Solshine (same crowd), Electric Forest, Summer Fest, Bender Jamboree, and Hulaween aren’t exactly what I would call putting in the work. Electric Forest and Hulaween are the only festival appearances this year where they can scoop some new fans IMO.
Next year they need to play a spring festival or two and then go hard on the summer circuit. I get it that a lot of festivals are dying, but they could weasel their way back into a C3 lineup at ACL or Lolla again. Maybe play Outside Lands in SF. They need to be more strategic in their touring again. Get the bigger paydays from festys that expose you to new fans and then do more destination runs where they play 2/3 nights in multiple cities. This is the way IMO.

2024 has definitely been my favorite year since 2019. There have been a ton of questionable business moves made this year but that has very little to do with the quality of music.

I toyed with the idea that maybe they chose to do the 1 set shows to let the openers get more stage time/more of a percentage of ticket sales. Maybe they feel like the openers could use that little bit of extra money more than they need it.

I’d be okay with Factor getting the boot. It seems like he’s yet to get his timing in sync with the band and he always defaults to that one pattern where all the lights just spiral. Idk, I’ve been expecting the light shows to get better but they seem to get worse the more he knows the music.

When Factor debuted they were playing four nights at the Fillmore Denver with a 3,600 capacity. Now here we are nearly five years later and they are playing two venues over four nights a fraction of the size (1600/1000). If he’s not solely responsible for the regression he sure as hell has been around for its entirety. Dude came from Mungion not moe and now he’s got to go!

I’ve enjoyed his creativity a lot, and how he uses different rigs for different shows. Loved what he did for nye last year. Red rocks got a little too in your face for me, but my pupils were hella dialated. Still I remember the triple wide being killer, light wise. But let’s be honest, it’s not like a new light guy is gonna draw in a new crowd.
