I just want them to take you seriously and value you for the fan you are first.
I wonder if they will announce more dates next week. Tickets for that Bayfield show go on sale next Tuesday. Anyone know when summer fest usually releases their lineup?
My wife and I just booked a spot in Bayfield. We’re in.
Summerfest will announce towards the end of March.
Where did you book for Bayfield? The closest spot to the venue has a 2 night minimum. We’ve always stayed in Ashland in that area since it’s cheaper. The venue shuttle looks like a good option.
I considered camping on my buddy’s in laws’ land where I deer hunt, but it’s 40 mins each way to the venue.
do you have any specific suggestions for the area? not too worried about being too close to the venue cause I’m thinking 4 days camping so the show is not the main priority. Looks like Ashland has the big infrastructure and Bayfield’s got some but not much.
Will probably be bringing my son so not going full bushcraft camping.
Driving to Bayfield WI would be so much easier if Lake Michigan wasn’t in the way. Ferry saves a little time/aggravation but the costs to bring the vehicle are prohibitive.
I looked quickly at the options since my “wife’s” aunt lives near Cable but her place is over an hour away and 10 hours from here.
:::waits for Meijer Garden announcement in April:::
Re camping up there I’ve only stayed my friend’s family property in Mason. Any campground near Washburn/Bayfield would be fine. There’s a crunchy little town called Cornucopia on the other side of the peninsula that might have some options.
I like the AmericInn in Ashland because the cast of A Simple Plan stated there during filming and I sleep better knowing that Billy Bob Thornton might have once fucked there.
If you bring the kiddo, an Apostle Islands boat tour is a must.
I figured as much, hard to fail as a campground in such a scenic area. I’ll be sure to add the boat tour to the list. The area doesn’t seem too big so I’m thinking location won’t matter too much
Looks like I’ve got more research to do. I’m a big fan of camping but some say I’m an ever bigger fan of re-treading Billy Bob history.
There’s a car ferry from Muskegon to Milwaukee, another one further north from Ludington to Manitowoc.
Yep, both are pricey mid-summer particularly if you want to bring a vehicle.
The Muskegon ferry is “fast” and takes a couple of hours. The Ludington ferry takes 4 hours.
I did a survey for this place before it opened, not sure how long the ferry runs to Madeline Island but could be an option for anyone that makes the journey…

eh nevermind, looks like ferry doesn’t run that late:
I booked a VRBO. Reasonably priced ($500 for two nights all in).
Any recs on a specific tour? I haven’t even looked yet so this might sound dumb. Thanks!
My wife booked it but I’m 99% sure we used these people:
We rode a huge twin engine catamaran style boat that was designed just for them.
I really wanted to book through EE last year but they were all booked by the time I checked. This seems like the way to go, private boat ride and then you can kayak once you get out to the islands. I wanted to check out Devils Island but I’m pretty sure they’ll take you wherever you want.
I spent a few days camping on Madeline Island at Big Bay Town Park and would recommend it.
We did a few nights on the island and a few on the mainland at an Airbnb. It was nothing special but it allowed dogs. It was halfway between Bayfield and Washburn, probably within 10 minutes of the venue. Great little beach right where the onion river flows into the lake too!
Bayfield tickets are on sale and members seem to have already claimed 1/3 or more of seats. I wouldn’t wait to get these if you are planning on making the trip @iamkickinit @ski-bUM @thefussyasianman
I’m rolling solo to this if anyone wants to get tix next to each other. The wife is saving her PTO for Blue Ox …and doesn’t really like UM.
Good looking out, totally spaced on this. Probably rolling solo too as I doubt my “wife” wants to go. Let me confirm real quick.
I think there’s a lawn too right?
