Yeah man of course initially I was a little bummed to hear one set. But honestly, it’s whatever man. I’m not going to get flustered over it. Just gonna go see some music and have a great time with some homies. I’m over it
New Malkmus side project just dropped.
I have enjoyed Eggy every time I’ve seen them. I would also not be upset if I missed them.
It’s the end of the summer, kids are back in school, and just less than a month ago Phish played their most extensive Midwest tour in years. I have to imagine a lot of this plays into what appears to be poor ticket sales.
The single set thing shouldn’t really be that big an issue for someone that has the time and money to travel to Indy. One of my all time favorite shows always a single set on a co-bill with moe. I’ve tossed around the idea of taking the family down to Indy but my wife works Saturday AM, daughter has tryouts on Sunday, and the kids first day of school is Monday.
Sure, I brought up the price of tickets but from a perspective that White River Lawn used to be entirely GA and was a lot less expensive to see UM there before the pavilion was built. I’m sure it’s a nice venue now overall, so obviously we have to pay for that in the price of a ticket.
Like @jachapman said, maybe it’s not the right venue for them anymore?
This should be directed at multiple people in this thread lol
For me, probably more non-jamband than jamband
Crazy, he played Kalamazoo State Theatre last summer and all the tickets were over $100/ea. How big is that venue?
Yall should just stop being haters and actually try to enjoy things in life. Yeah im bummed about one set, but whatever it’s still more live music in my life, more time spent with friends and more memories made. Yeah im hippy dippy “find the positivity” all the time, but I don’t have the energy nor the time to be negative about something I enjoy so much
Oh yeah. Just commenting on the experience I expected at an UM headlining show.
Kind of what I figured. I’ll likely watch some of their set
Yeah, the whole “do you see non-jamband shows?” trope is misplaced at best in a discussion about a jamband show. At worst, it’s indicative of a life unfulfilled.
While I’m sure they’ll play great and I’ll drive away from the venue a happy UMs fan, I have a feeling I’ll be slightly unfulfilled.
After UMBowl, my “wife” and I were talking to this girl at the airport that went to the shows. She was basically me, same first time doing terrrr, from Ohio, die hard UMs fan, same age. Even had the same poster tube I did, but with more stickers. We both had the same feelings about UMBowl. “Tons of fun and glad to check off the bucket list, but need the 2 sets + encore format to really scratch that itch.”
Here’s the secret. Dont have expectations about how good a show will or won’t be. Like summerfest was still a ripping show after a rain delay and only being one set and that was less than two hours. I’m here for the good times, and seeing live music with family and the homies is a good time
Not when someone is acting like not having a set break is going to ruin their show going experience
How is this a trope lmao
Anyway…
5k when the floor is open
Yeah, trope wasn’t the best word choice.
“Regurgitated and tread-worn deflection” would have been better in hindsight.
I guess you see it regurgitated way more than I do. Jam band fans, in my experience, let jam band norms ruin their overall concert going experience way too often that it actually warrants that question being asked.
Anyway…
