Sturgill Simpson

Fucking jealous as hell.

I was supposed to go tonight but can’t get out of work.

Crazy how much he and his band have progressed in the last decade. He definitely “jammed” a bit when I saw him years ago, but nothing like he is doing this tour.

Enjoyed that this morning. So good.

Pretty sure his current lineup is pretty new. Completely different band when I last saw him in 2018/19. With respect, his band now are better musicians.

Laur was with him when I saw them 10 years ago, as was Miles and Kevin, who I believe are on the latest tour. I believe he has more of his original band now than he did in 2018.

I stand corrected. Definitely explains why they sound so tight. Some of the Fall ‘24 show banter led me to believe he just found these guys and rehearsed for a couple months. Only saw one show back in 2018 and there was zero overlap, with Sturgill alone on guitar.

Only the keyboardist is “new” in this lineup. Miles has been Sturgills drummer since 2013. Kevin Black was in the band 2012-2016 and rejoined in 2024. Black played for Margo Price in the interim.

Laur joined 2013-2014 and left in 2017. Played with Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ for awhile.

Chuck Bartels played bass from 2016-2020.

Bobby Emmett played keys 2015-2020 and is currently in Jack Whites band.

Tulsa on a Friday? Count me in. Wonder if he will have any openers?

I’d expect no opener since his sets usually exceed three hours.

Don’t know all these venues, but damn Mission Ballroom seems a good bit smaller than these other places. Assuming it will be a tough ticket.

Has it really been like 7 years since he played denver or am I missing something? He played Grandoozy fest in 2018, and the Paramount/Ogden years prior to that, but dont see anything since then.

Was slated to play Ball arena with Childers on his arena tour that got covid canceled tho

Really stoked for these shows. Havent seen him since he blew up. Last time was at a 550 capacity venue in AvL with Childers.

The rise of these guys is insane

First time I saw Childers was the week Purgatory dropped at a 250 capacity club. He’s playing the Timberwolves arena across the street on this tour.
