Rockjavik: A 3 night run in Iceland

Man, I sure would love to give you a Mountain Dew Code Red right now.

I have a nugs account, so guess I’m grown up?

And not sure why you care so much about something that doesn’t affect you, but for what it’s worth, sometimes nugs is a pain in the ass and sometimes it’s nice to own music rather than stream it from a flawed app.

Would accept.

There are now a total of 34 confirmed cases in Iceland of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, VĂsir reports at the time of this writing. All of these are Icelanders who were on one of two returning flights to the country last week, from Italy and Austria.
The Icelanders in question are all in quarantine, are amongst the around 300 currently in quarantine from these flights, and none are seriously ill. There have been no reported cases of COVID-19 in the general population at the time of this writing.

Did you not read the article? Where are you getting 9 cases from? According to the John Hopkins tracker there are 43 cases in Iceland and 241 in the US. For reference, Italy had around 200 cases less than 2 weeks ago.

We are likely flying at the peak of this epidemic, probably through some of the busiest airports in the world. Don’t worry about responding to me if you think it’s a waste of your time to be concerned with a dangerous, incredibly infectious virus that will most likely spread exponentially in the coming weeks.

My mistake, 34 cases on those 2 flights. I must’ve misread something.

Can I ask, what do you hope to gain from this conversation? If you’re so scared, stay home.

Here’s the death chart for COVID-19. While it sucks that it’s happening (and the timing is brutal), it’s still basically just a bad flu. Pretty much the only people dying are 60+, and those people are already at a much higher risk of dying from the standard flu or even the common cold.

(This isn’t directed at anyone, but all the outlets are talking about number of cases and number of death, but failing to mentioned the age ranges).

The government must be up to something right now to distract us with this BS. Usually this is just called “flu season”.

Yeah you definitely misread. Also everyone on those flights is in quarantine per the article. Might wanna work on your reading comprehension.

And hmm idk, maybe to talk about it with other people going through the same situation and also help spread information to help umphrey’s fans make informed decisions about their safety, time, and money. What are you trying to gain by downplaying the virus and potential quarantines?

@RedBirdBath, thanks for that. That is definitely reassuring for me since I’m in the 0.2% death rate age range. Still kinda worried about quarantines if someone on my flight happens to be infected.

Best of luck to us all to rage some Umph in Iceland

Oh yeah the reading comprehension shot. Nice. I too have been on a forum before.

I think the email from Umphrey’s McGee a pretty good job of telling people that there’s nothing to worry about right now, but if you want to pee down your leg, go for it. In the meantime, thank you for your service in keeping us informed.

Just to clarify, you’re worried about someone on your mid-week flight to Iceland having the coronavirus, then quarantining your plane? Do you live in NYC? I can’t imagine how you must cope, being such a nelly.

If you’ve read anything about this, nothing in that chart should be news. And you probably wouldn’t be so tightly wound.

Update from a press conference in Iceland today:

Needs more for a ban on assembly

Vidir says that in order for a ban on assembly to be imposed in Iceland, more infections and more confirmation that the virus should be transmitted between people in this country must be obtained.

“We don’t want to impose a ban on assembly until we have to stop the spread completely,” says Víðir.

He will, however, talk to the ISA tonight because the emergency level has been declared.

Translated from this link: Blaðamannafundur vegna kórónuveirunnar

So far so good. Iceland shutting down assembly is a big risk for us, but they aren’t going there yet. Monday will tell us more…

Can confirm that mp3 codes used to be universal. Earlier this week I used an extra Red Rocks VIP '19 mp3 code for the Oregon show I attended last week.

My guy! Thanks for posting this, a small part of me was worried I had completely lost it.

I’m glad you are not worried about it. I offered you to not worry about responding to me if you don’t wanna waste your precious time. But obviously you are emotionally attached to downplaying the virus to make yourself feel better about potential quarantines or the show getting cancelled. Sorry my posts are making you uncomfortable.

Good job on the assumptions about me and name calling though

@cwcoleman, Nice find… This next week is gonna be nerve racking for me!

Not sure what that means. But sorry I don’t appreciate people spreading misinformation in a thread of people that I would probably like in person about a serious issue. And then that same person trolling me about it.

LMAO. Bruh. If you know me, you’d know that I am deeply, DEEPLY emotionally devoted to staying chill. And always being sick as fuck :call_me_hand:t3: :call_me_hand:t3: :call_me_hand:t3:

You’re forgiven. Thank you for acknowledging that your jab was very juvenile.

Honestly though. Don’t let life scare you so much, man.

You’re right, it was dangerous. Most doctors tell people to check The Bort before weighing their travel and health related decisions, so I apologize for my irresponsible and malicious post about the number of cases in Iceland

What the fuck are you even talking about now? Did you consult your doctor about going to Iceland? That sounds pretty scared. Are you peeing down your leg this very moment? I guess he told you to go post about it on the bort. Weird doctor, man.

edit: I accept your apology

lol

HAHAHAHA.
