A few thoughts from this weekend:
Some solid song selection to see across 4 nights. It didn’t necessarily lend to good set flow but it was cool to see songs that don’t usually pop up too often.
The old school songs go so much harder in the Midwest. They may want to appeal to a new audience with these shitty songs they’ve been writing but when they played anything old, people were getting after it. Crazy energy in both the Riverside and First Ave this weekend.
The Riverside really is the best venue. Beers are $5, waters are $5. Makes my decision very easy. I love Milwaukee so much. I could easily live there.
First Ave rocks. I had zero complaints about that place. Chilled on the rail of the walkway freezing my ass off under the AC. Only rough part was a dude passing out at my feet right as the Higgins jam got going. Love that venue.
After seeing 7 shows this year, it’s become pretty clear that they are focusing on doing more 3-5 minute jams rather than at least one or two big jams like they were in 2019. I would be curious to see if we could get Joel to confirm if it’s intentional or not. Sure feels intentional at this point. It’s disappointing because some of these jams have potential and it’s a shame to see them aborted so quickly.
Seriously fuck Whistle Kids. Caught the last two that have been played. How dare you throw that late in the second set?
People in Iowa are fucking ugly. I’m a Mass 5-6 but I automatically get bumped up to an 8-9 in Iowa. Also a really boring state to drive though.

Tried to buy the golden ticket raffle bag like 8 times when it went on sale at noon and couldn’t get through. Guess it’ll be another year of looking for tickets the day of show for me.
