Need to listen back. So far just listened to the SD show and I am looooving the Ringo, esp the first jam. Heard LA might have been the best show so I’m looking forward to it, and the Reno show looks good on paper

SD > LA > Oakland > Reno. The week gradually got worse as it went on 
But Reno is still quite a fine show.
Umphrey’s sucks a little less than they have the last couple years. Must feel good to have the album and pandemic behind them. Easier to just let loose and play.

They definitely took some notes from the Biscuits. Jamming either debuts or 2nd time played songs when they usually wait a while for new tunes to get opened up. I think they realize the fans enjoy the curveballs and chances more.
Play like that and you’ll start gaining traction again. We all would hate on it, but if they opened up for Goose that would definitely open up some peoples eyes. Whoever of those trustafarians that isn’t scared off by WBG can probably appreciate what it is (what it is!) that UM brings to the table. If you want new fans you need to do new things

I had an idea. They gimmick the 2nd set of their 25th anny tour with classic sets of years past. Do the IC<Synco set one show. Do the 11/5/11 2nd set another show. Basically become their own version of Dark Star Orchestra to recapture the old school magic that the OG fans miss.

That’s what all the Repeated Stews are already, and it created Upward, the song that represents everything wrong with UM. Besides the heaviness and Bayliss’ flat voice, UM’s biggest criticism is their hesitance to take chances. If I found out ahead of time the band was going to do this I would sell my ticket as fast as possible.

Hold up, I don’t think it’s a terrible idea. If the band didn’t divulge the classic set before they went into it, it would be fun for the fans at the show and at home to guess along as the songs progressed as to which set they were playing. They could bill it as a special run and try it out for four shows. It could be similar to when they debuted a new cover every encore of WinTER 2008 West Coast tour. I appreciate the idea to mix it up.

What the band needs to do is listen to me and play San Antonio and Phoenix regularly over the next decade and build up some fucking fanbases in two of the biggest cities in the country…
