i wish UM was popular enough that they could draw a crowd to the Gorge. i feel like this is the only band in the world i want to see play there before it’s not even an option anymore.

I am now into 2012 in an ongoing endeavor to relisten to my past shows. That year had to be worse than what the band is doing in 2021. Basically every set has two type two jams, and that’s it. Sandwiches in place of improv are everywhere. Right now I’m listening to 9/7/12 where the motherfucking Haunt got all of 1.5 minutes of “improv” (really just a short transition to Mail Package).

I remember 2012 fondly mainly because of NYC in January and Red Rocks.

I may be wrong about the year as a whole, but anecdotally it was bad for me. 2011 was amazing and culminated with a fantastic NYE run. I went to the first two shows of 2012 just a week later in Fort Lauderdale and they just fell flat, and then most every show I saw through the rest of the year was average at best. I think there might have been one good one on the NYE run but I haven’t gotten there yet.
