Once again we can thank the Biscuits for the current state of affairs. Most bands of our time were entering stale, nostalgia-act phases of their careers. Think of one band pre-COVID that was pushing it and embracing the off-the-wall silliness of their days of being in their 20’s. Was the music still good enough to justify seeing? Of course. But when was the last Lotus, UM, TDB, STS9 show that was truly mind-blowing? Cue set break ending and the Bubble of Positivity(BOP) forming. Suddenly a band of old dudes (relatively speaking) are going out and trying new things and having a blast doing it. Now at this point, you may be asking…“Why is this being posted in an Umphrey’s group?” This is because one of the Biscuits who happens to be good friends with Joel starts talking about the BoP. Joel thinks UM can achieve a renaissance as well. One problem. KM. A power struggle ensues. Joel wins out and KM is cast from the new UMBoP. Get ready to tour a lot over the next few years. We are going to see a revolution in sound from UM. New album(s) on the horizon and reinvigorated playing.

And she did it in as nice a way as possible. I wish Kris the best in his future endeavors but, other than Awful (edit: Waful), he was the least engaging person I have met in the organization, in my experience.

Great year all around. Crowd energy during UM n1 s1 was off the charts with that Tinkles and then the Eat > Haji > Eat

Feel like that was one of the first standout versions of Eat. Neither jam was that long but remember the moments vividly and people were loving it

Agreed on this. I was lucky enough to be in the room for the 3/5/07 monster Eat in Boulder, then also at this S’camp version. I had the thought that Eat was going to start producing more often, but that didn’t seem to hold true. Still love hearing the tune anytime though. Had so much fun at the ‘07 Camp.

That ‘08 Eat and the rest of the set was the peak of the highest high I’ve ever experienced. Full on cartoonish vision distortion. I had to sit down and hold on to the lawn because I was convinced that I was about to be catapulted into space. Harrowing and exhilarating.

Weird. I always felt Kris was up there with Joel and Jake as approachable and down to earth.
