Ah yes the DBKeefer what a solid memory. Used to argue with Chris Keefer all the time on the Bort in 2009. RIP!

Resuming the run I started listening to last night with 11.18.08. Off to a strong start with Water to get the ball rolling. Vamp turned into a solid jam.

Keefer was a good dude - loved his energy. Rips

Water/Bridgeless is probably the greatest thing they’ve ever done.

(apologies if I’m conflating him with someone else)

wasn’t he the older guy who worked as a lawyer/coal lobbyist? something like that.
i think about him when i think about the complexity of people - he could’ve been a “nice guy,” but did some shitty stuff during his day job.

Kinda like I’ve heard people say that Tucker Carlson was supposedly a pretty heady guy to be around at Phish shows.

8/19/09 Grand Junction was fun and the second set has a 18min second part of Front Porch. It’s a big BB/Joel led show too. Jake wasn’t feeling it that night so he sat back and let the others take the wheel. Pretty under the radar

I believe you mean 9/18. From the 2nd jam of Resolution thru the Front Porch is an all time segment of mine.

I find it interesting when all people say about someone is that they’re “nice”. To me that signals you dont know much about the person…

And it means ugly when you say it about babies

Dohhhhhh. Yah that’s the one. Fun show. There was a guy with a Death shirt on behind me and I turned around while my tabs were setting in and said “nice shirt man, I love meth”. I put Death and Metal together and got a very weird look from the guy.

Omfg dude. Put yourself in that guys shoes, would you appreciate somebody talking to you about meth at a concert? That guy probably never went to another show.

Jk You sound fun as fuck dude, my kinda rager

random thoughts

So I’ve been playing back the 3 RRx 3 nighters I went too, 2017-2019, here at work. Been thinking. I remember thinking at the time that they were rising hard as fuck. When they released Zonkey I was so pumped because I knew those mashups would bring in people that wouldn’t normally give them a listen. A few of my non-umphreys fan friends were very impressed by it. It’s not Us is a solid fucking album that I thought “hmm these songs fucking rock, maybe this could bring in some of those LCD rock fans?!” I remember being unable to find decent alone space at the top of RRx (because the tabs were getting a little heavy), the place was PACKED.

Covid really fucking slowed the UMs train down. They’re still ripping these days and it makes me sad that they don’t sell out/pack venues like then.

What they should do (hope @cshore is listening), they should have 4 giant rectangular screens framing the stage while they jam. In each screen will be: a temple run stream, a family guy best clips YouTube video, Fortnite stream, and whatever twitch streamer is popular at the time of the show. Appeal to Gen Alpha’s interests and attention, and your bag will stay secured :+1:

Do what?
