Yea I thought all their Chicago shows this year were good. Especially after so many years with playing not so great shows there.
But why does that city have so many dumpy venues I will never understand. I got thrown out of the balcony during UMbowl because god forbid my spun ass needed to sit down and take a breather for just 5min. I didn’t have a balcony ticket but there were plenty of open seats.
the Riv is a joke. My jameson was so watered down at JRAD this past weekend.
At UMBowl my buddy and I went to the absolute top of the building/stairs to sneak a quick smoke in and there was a jam productions employee who “caught us” but hadn’t actually caught us doing anything yet. He got into a shouting match with my buddy cause he threatened to kick us out and my buddy just kept explaining that he couldn’t and this employee just got in his face and yelled “well, you’re a fucken ass!”
I could not stop laughing. At one point the dude called us “slaves to the smoke” or something and my buddy responded "addiction isn’t a cause for expulsion!
he looked like a senior citizen version of Little Bitch/Squeak from Baseketball.
Thought it was just Midwest fluff but it definitely lived up to its shithole reputation. The bathrooms are fucking disgusting. The small window bar to the left of the pit is clutch though.
I was there last weekend for JRAD and it sucked. A 20 minute line for that place breaks my spirits because of how awful it is.
It’s shady because that $5 million renovation was really just replacing all the seats in the balconies. The seats were fucked don’t get me wrong, 40% of them were 100% springs but it’s clear the only reason they put the money into it was to sell individual tickets. Sooo many things need to be addressed and they spent $5m on seats.
Glad y’all didn’t have to attempt a coat check or experience a sold out show. It’s rough.
I agree, I’m just pointing out that that’s the only reason for they did those renovations. There’s so many things that need to be addressed sooner but you can’t sell seated tickets when 15% of the seats are not usable.
