11/29/03 is up on Nugs. Haven’t listened, but a 22 song show seems odd. Did they not really improv in the early years?
^
Answer was in my own thread. What a newb.
The show a couple of nights earlier in Milwaukee is better, imo. There’s more there improv-wise:
November 26, 2003 Umphrey’s McGee — The Rave Underground — Milwaukee, WI, USA
Set 1: Hurt Bird Bath > Soul Food I > Water, Much Obliged > Smell the Mitten, A Fifth of Beethoven, Mail Package
Set 2: Front Porch > Resolution > Front Porch[1], In Violation of Yes[2], Billie Jean, Example 1[3] > Padgett’s Profile[4], Ocean Billy, Dump City
Footnotes:
[1] with Gratitude (The Beastie Boys) jam
[2] with Thunderstruck (AC/DC) jam
[3] ended with Is There Anybody Out There? (Pink Floyd) jam
[4] with South Park theme (Primus) tease and with Jake on timbales
Show Notes: with No Quarter (Led Zeppelin) tease before In Violation of Yes
with Four Sticks (Led Zeppelin) jam after Billie Jean
with You Really Got Me (Van Halen) tease before Nopener
I love this show so much. Fun as fuck
Bayliss probably has a single setlist note in his notes app that he references each time it’s his turn to setlist write again
one of my favorite early ones. burned this on a CD and it was staple in my old Honda.
My first show!!
I started it and man… they were shredding during that 40s.
But did they drop an n bomb?
Dunno. Never heard such a thing before. Ever.
is this a Morgan Wallen tease or early UM tease?
There was a whole debate maybe earlier this year or late last year whether they had said it during a recent 40’s. @KCahalan1348 was the first to claim he heard it but I thought @SchladopianFir was in there too. Apologies if I misremembered.

KC deleted some of his posts though
oh, forgot about that.
I was just listening to that Lamda Chi Show from '03 and Budney annunciates the fuck out of it during Ain’t No Fun lmao. Morgan Wallen survived a cancel attempt when he was caught on video dropping a hard R a few years back.
I definitely added to the chaos and have since heard other versions in which I can understand it completely.
I was not the first but I chimed in on the conversation. Dude who initially brought it up said he thought he heard it at a show live with his girlfriend and was all upset about it. I was not upset at all and deleted my posts when I realized he was sayin “liquors”
Listening to the 11/29/03 archival release. Never heard Bayliss do the weed rap verses in 40’s before.
Welp, no covers was fun while it lasted
Is this a one set show?
Has to be
