Lol that kid lives in MN. I will show him JarJar’s cock if it’s the last thing I do.
I don’t even think the statement they were all #1 singles is even true
Not that it matters for @stager24 here
Yeah the comments on socials under this latest Zonkey post is one of the reasons why I strongly dislike this band and a majority of the fanbase these days.
That being said I’m sure you’ll tune into the restream of UMBowl next month!
Will I though? When is it? I don’t know even know or care when UMBowl is anymore, and I am being serious.
This band has lost my interest.
Have you listened to 9.10 Bridgless brah? The restream will be happening 11.11 and 11.12 granted they stream the shows brah.
I will listen on my way home from work tonight just for you.
Not trying to come across as being edgy with my takes, I have just slowly lost interest in all things UM.
Although studio White Man’s Moccasins just came on my shuffle recently and I forgot how good that song is.
I understand a lot of the gripes people have, especially with the band’s direction taken during the pandemic, but I believe since Colorado in June, they have been consistently putting out solid jams and the new material has grown on me quite a bit. I honestly think the biggest issue with the band now is how out of touch KB is with the fanbase and the contraction in popularity as a result. They need to ditch Gen X management and bring in some Millenial influence. While I still have not listened to a full Goose song or seen them live, I believe they are an inferior product that is just marketed a lot better at this point. Umphrey’s used to thrive on being innovative but KB is just so out of touch with what the fans want that they are losing popularity as a result. If the pandemic is to blame coupled with the fact that there is an oversaturation of touring musicians at the moment to make up for lost time, then why have Goose and Billy Strings been able to jump up in venue size so much over the last three to five years? A lot of it comes down to marketing and not the music being made IMO.
They suck way less lately. Fanbase hasnt caught up.
or they could just embrace that they’re an older band with an older fanbase and not try anything new when it comes to PR
If it was up to me I would just model the band’s touring structure after Panic. Play mutlinight runs in the markets you have dedicated fanbases in and make it conducive to traveling for fans with families and careers. They’ll never reach the popularity Panic did but they can learn a lot from how that band runs things these days.
didn’t they sort of try that already?
UM sucks? Im shocked.
There was a time when i hated the WSP tour model. Now it sounds wonderful.
Which leads me to believe a lot of the shit i hate might simply be a sign of my age.
To an extent, with the annual Asheville run being an example of them catering to one of their stronger regions, but I would say something like this:
Chicago x 3
New York x 3
Milwaukee x 3
Atlanta x 3
Portland x 3
Asheville x 3
St. Louis x 3
Denver x 3
Aspen x 3
Minneapolis x 3
Scamp x 3
etc.
When is the last time they done more than five three night stands in a year? Have they done that at all? Two nighters yes most likely, but as far as three nighters go, we aren’t even getting that for New Years this year!
I would be totally fine with getting 10 shows a year between STL/Urbana/Scamp again. Would never even have to think about seeing a Chicago turd again.
Not sure about 3 nighters, but they did a lot of 2s in the 2018/19 iirc. I don’t think they have the pull to do 3 nights in most cities
I might have to go visit the old stomping grounds for this. 5th grade me is so stoked to see Green Day and Weezer
Billy and Goose are new and fresh and appear to teens and 20-somethings, just like UM did 15-20 years ago. You can’t expect that crowd to be into a band of 45 yr olds who are influenced by artists from the 70s and 80s. 99% of bands experience a decline in popularity as they age, you can’t really blame UM for it
That is a weird lineup.
