Answer: who is Barber?
Second longest track time of the weekend:
oofsize
Judging a band by song lengths is something only cringe ass jamband fans do. Go listen to spafford play absolutely nothing for 2 hrs straight
I bet Jimmy killed it on this one
Panic’s last studio album was 2015.
UM has released 6 studio albums since 2015.
it’s a bit different
WSP also has 11 more years of taking names and kickin’ ass.
True
SCI definitely a good example of band members living in diff parts of the country, but being able to hit the stage and play interesting improv and creative setlists.
idk, but it’s pretty clear that UM suffers from not playing together as much. Hard to say what causes it, but they definitely get sloppier/less patient after significant time off
Yeah, I notice it with the less composed stews, aimless improv and repeated Jake crutches. But thats holding the bar high. I even thought this in 2019, but at the same time, you can use 2019 to debunk this theory.
The songs are shorter so there’s more room for… ah fuck, nevermind.
Chuggity chug chug
Edit: seriously, this perfectly describes the difference between 10-15 years ago and today. I’m not sure to what degree the “composed stews” were written out and practiced back then but the formula allowed them to start with multiple themes and build on them. That seems lacking these days for the most part.
I was creeping on Joel tweets & replies the other day and he mentioned that half the band doesn’t even know what the song Proverbial is at this point. I’ll see if I can find it…
Doesn’t Barber live in Vegas? I didn’t see Brownie’s kid graduating from a school in Nevada recently…
He moved to back to Philly last year. Got to think thats why they are able to spit out all this new material.
Cant forget about B Strings and the boys. Its clearly fucking obvious those guys have the best chemistry in the scene right now. But they also tour more than anyone else.
Bummer…
yeah they’re basically on the road 10 out of 12 months, they’re putting in work
Not the first time he’s said that. I recall seeing it called “potato” on at least one setlist.
But can still give you a Miss Robinsons Strut instead of a jam, no problem there!
Isn’t there a clip somewhere of them singing the opening riff saying potato each time?
