I know Andy is Egyptian, I wonder what he thinks of the situation.

Response post to your link.

Friendly reminder to the entirety of VfJ/reddit - none of us are owed anything from these guys, particularly their stance on a political or ideological issue lol

As discussed above, the topic itself is very complex and it seems like despite the gray areas, most people have taken a very strong position on one of the two sides. Or like me, realize that I (1) don’t fully understand the complexity/history of the conflict and (2) haven’t taken a side because I’m pretty far removed from politics in the Middle East. I’ll just say, I don’t like to see any innocent individuals targeted for an attack, regardless of their religion, regardless of where they are in the world.

To the point of political ideology, if a musician was actively participating in domestic politics that are fueled by hatred, racism, and authoritarianism then yes I would potentially have an issue with that.

Considering where your tax dollars go this is an unequivocally false statement.

True, $25/year.

It will never cease to blow my mind that being against an active genocide is somehow a strong or controversial position.

DYOR instead of taking in all your information from legacy media news bits delivered via algorithms. You don’t need to be a historian to learn enough to develop an opinion.

I talked with someone over the weekend who has an UM show count that’s 250+ and has had many personal interactions with the band. He expressed that during the 2010s, there was a few occasions involving KM that had him wanting to step back from the band, because he didn’t want personal feelings mingling with his love of the music. One night, he had to coax KM out of a locked bathroom, and take him back to his hotel, and he was so fucked up that he was muttering fucked up nonsense while blacked out. Dude said that he won’t repeat it out of respect to his friendship, but that was the last time he partied with KM by choice. He said that the popular rumor of forced resignation really isn’t surprising.

I keep seeing references (borderline innuendo) to Kris being forced out, due to over-partying? Aside from the laptop jokes etc, just curious if this was a serious concern in recent years?? (I believe there was concern many years ago.) I’ve met him several times - before and after shows - and he was always a perfect gent. I also saw him play live at one of the final shows (Dallas), and he was honestly the most inspired player in the band that night…he was on fire. It’s such a shame (my opinion) that he is out of the band.

He’s definitely an incredible musician, both as a drummer but also vocally, but if there was a dynamic that wasn’t working with the core original members I can see them parting ways. I’m sure, however this worked out, the decision wasn’t taken lightly. The band definitely seems to be enjoying themselves on stage, and as a fan that has seen them for nearly 18 years, it’s appreciated.
