Yeah that was something else. I kinda loved it just in the novelty sense that it had me cracking up. But I doubt I’ll ever listen to it again.
Agreed. I like it cause it is something different and fun and it’s also very cool that it was a family creation. Having said that it kind of sits in a category of its own within their discography as a definite novelty and concept album. It’s not something I am likely to revisit (and haven’t in the past) but it was nice to pay closer attention to the story this time around. This album would be pretty badass if it were just an instrumental western album. Wonder if any instrumental versions exist out there.
Edit: Doesn’t appear to be any instrumental versions but seems like it is something that has been requested a decent amount by fans. With all the bootlegs out there maybe someday the band will release the original recordings.
I enjoyed the music on this album the most of the three so far. It reminded me of playing Red Dead Redemption 2, so it’s funny to see the band mentioned that as an influence. I haven’t really been able to focus on the story on any listen yet, so hopefully I can find some time to do that. I think it might have been nice if they mixed actual lyrics with narration passages.
Good morning Bort, I’m a couple days late but here we go!

I will start off by saying this is one of my absolute favorite Gizzard albums (probably #1) and easily my most listened to. Head On/Pill is without a doubt my favorite KG track and I hope people enjoy this one. Will write more after I give it another spin.
Oo add me to the tag list plz. Been meaning to get listening to these guys for a long time
Still need to give this album a full relisten. But this is the start of their music that I’m already familiar with. Seems like the pivot point from where they upgraded out of a niche bar band into a really unique sound.
Head On/Pill is probably what I’d recommend to anyone with good musical taste but still on the fence with Gizz. Jumping out of the surfer riffs into full psychedelic exploration.
I’m pretty new to KG. Only know the latest few albums. First time giving this a listen. Three tracks in and I gotta say. I kinda hate it. Like it actually hurts the ears I hate it so much.
Didn’t finish Eyes Like the Sky but I got about halfway through and pretty much got it. Fun western kind of sound but probably won’t return to it, unless it’s like background music or inspiration for something.
Excited to jump into FA-FYL
So I really dug this album. Starting to see the progression from garage/surf rock to more psych and experimentation with styles and sounds.
Head On/Pill was great but could’ve been a little shorter haha. Still one of my favs on the album along with 30 Past 7, Pop In My Step, and Float Along - Fill Your Lungs.
This has been the best album yet, IMO. It’s getting closer to their sound that I am most familiar with. I agree with @anon72818525 that Head On/Pill should be shorter; it has some good stuff but is way too repetitive for the length. My favorite songs here are 30 Past 7 and the title track.
Infest The Rat’s Nest is still my favorite KG album
Thrash Daddy Pooks

I spaced and jammed FAFYL today and then Oddments too.
Yeah studio Head On/Pill is way too long. Def better in a live setting. I kinda hate Let Me Mend the Past. Forgot how much I love the title track, def album MVP.
I don’t care for Oddments. Its a bunch of b-sides and it sounds like it.
Yeah agree on Oddments. Name of the album is pretty spot on for what it is though. Dug Hot Wax but most everything else just felt kind of random and scattered.
I like this more than the last album, but still too many meh songs for this to be an album I’ll revisit.
Vegemite is a fucking terrible song.
Welcome back Gizzards and Gizzettes. Agree that Oddments is pretty lackluster. Has some nice tracks but overall not really what I’m looking for in a KGLW album. I’ve heard it a few times but don’t really go back a whole lot.
