Even more of a reason to spoil warning it then. But yeah it was exactly the same setlist in mke and madison
It’s the exact same setlist every night.
Ur the exact same every night
That’s not true. Sometimes he’s a mid-level manager from office space.
He can be different on Halloween, as a treat
My tape from albany if anybody is interested:
Appreciate you.
Tonight is the night!! I’ve been looking forward to this show for so long, can’t believe it’s finally here
Very sad I’m missing this tour unless I pull out a miracle for Louisville or some nonsense. Zero chance I wouldn’t dance like an imbecile during Ginjeet
Man, what an incredible show. First time seeing Steve Vai, and he delivered. Such an awesome assembly of musicians.
I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO SEE IT!
Won (2) free tickets for the OKC show here in December.
Yessssss
Knew that was coming, but didn’t know we’d get it this year.
Really excited to listen to the show I saw in 2014. Wonder if they’re planning on doing all of it
I hope they release the subsequent tours as well eventually. I didn’t first see them until 2017 and again in 2019.
I was expecting these to be multi mixes (i guess likely due to the time it took to release them + the way they phrased the PR), but they’re definitely just board feeds, and pretty dry/mono board feeds at that. Still cool, but a bit of a bummer quality wise.
Might have to try matrixing this release with my tape of the show I saw to add some ambiance
This was the first show of yours that I ever listened to
How did you overcome that?
“I navigated it by double-picking it. I wasn’t happy with that. But two days after the first show I got an email from Robert, who’d watched a video. He said, ‘Why don’t you hammer Frame by Frame? Grab the initial notes and then improvise on it. Then go to the next chord and do that.’
“That was something I’d thought about doing initially, but it would take it far away from the original part. But when it came from Robert as a suggestion, I thought, ‘Yeah, that’s my wheelhouse.’ I did it that night at the show, and it worked beautifully. It’s unique to me – yet it was birthed by Robert and Adrian, you know?”
Interesting note there. I went back and watched the debut show’s performance and he played it differently than the two hand tapping version I saw.
The comment about Fripp being 35 when he wrote it surprised me and I googled him to look up his birthdate. This is the first image that comes up.
I sent that to my brother on Christmas. Merry frippmas
that’s cool, hadn’t heard that anecdote. Tapping in Frame by Frame was definitely one of the more unique vai-esq interpretations, so very interesting that it was a Fripp idea
