Speaking of bands that rise to the top that didn’t really deserve to be there. Dolan Daddy’s trust fund shot these guys straight to the top. I wonder how much they paid umphreys to open for them

always rubs me the wrong way when jam blands rise to the top because of their position of privilege. I suppose thats the case with anything, but it’s kind of a reflection of how the scene is dead and grass roots efforts and support are rare to come across these days. It seems rare for a band to come up based on talent alone. People really only seem to latch onto hype and whatever bands have money funneled into them

I’d consider Tauk among the greatest failures in the scene. Cant think of a more irrelevant band these days. Hell Im not even sure they are a band anymore lol.

I never hated tauk. I never really liked them either but they’re better than most of the standard garbage out there

Looks like they have some shows coming up opening for PPPP. I think when I first started seeing Tauk open for UM I hadn’t even heard of PPPP yet.

It sucks, but its just how it goes. UM and Phish had the same luck. Its about right place at the right time, and having deep enough pockets to endure.

Tauk is awesome the first 15 minutes. It’s 30 minutes and you realize that you’re only halfway through the same-sounding thing is when it gets you.

Well eating my words about Tauk, at what point does a bands trust fund start up end up not being a factor when their music is being streamed 2.5 million times (in one year) 10 years after they became a band.

Widespread Panic is a pretty rad name.
Phish has always seemed a fine name to me but others seem to disagree.
Dopapod is kinda cool tbh.
Everybody else has the worst names but some are even worse worst names.
