First listen to the tune, I made it 10 seconds and said nooooope. But admittedly I thought BB’s Winenot version was better (not good, but better and tolerable). So, I wouldn’t be surprised if this showed up acoustic or stripped down during a quieter part of a set.
I may not love everything the band does but I always appreciate that they’re doing what they love and that manifests in myriad ways, sometimes in line with my taste and sometimes not.
Hope the boys keep writing and being creative during this down time
My first reaction was, I would have rather heard that instrumental. After another listen, I realized the chorus was stuck in my head. I’ve listened to it a handful of times now, and I like it. I also wouldn’t mind seeing it live, with proper placement in a set list. Maybe transitioned out of a dark and atmospheric jam.
I would love it if Jake released some new songs playing all instruments (plus vocals) regularly, especially if the social distancing/lack of live music goes on longer than we are hoping.
I absolutely prefer it to Xmas in Wartime, No Diablo, and probably others I’m not thinking of.
i thought no diablo was okay live before it got sanchez’d and that new corny “someday i won’t beeeee there” part got added and the little joel solo ditty got axed
