One thing I’ve seen common at a lot of festival lineups, is a superjam of some sorts. I’d like to see your opinion on who you’d ensemble for a superjam in the drug band world. Maybe a better way to ask this is, who’s considered the best at what they do?
r/jambands
just throw all living musicians into the fray, then they just come up and down like hockey players on a line change.
musically, they just play television show theme songs
Colin Shore (guitar/vocals)
Greg King (guitar)
Jimmy Finnegan (bass/vocals)
Brian Keller (keyboards/sax/flute/vocals)
Kevin D’Angelo (drums)
Trey, Magner, Claypool, and someone like Billy Martin would be a ton of fun
Someone ask ChatGPT
Having read my OP, I’m realizing that it’s hard to really think of this. I could come up with who I’d like to be in a superband, but it’s always going to be a clash of styles. Could Myers play with Trey? Could Jimmy Herring play with Brownie? I love both Joel and Magner, but they’re 2 totally different styles.
Lead vocals - Andy Frasco
Lead guitar - Mihali
Rhythm guitar - Scrambled Greg
Keys - Peter Goose
Bass - Ryan Stasik
Drums - Mickey Hart
I feel like a lot of the time in the jamband world you really only have a few guys who really stand out as being the creative minds and then a lot of guys who were lucky that they knew those guys
You also have a lot of very high people with bad taste
G- John Scofield
B- Les Claypool
Keys- Joel Cummins
D- Stanton Moore
Sax- Redman
B4L
Can’t remember if this was considered Phil and Phriends but it was a fun one.
Edit: For the love of everything, bring back The Duo.
TBH, I tried to come up with a superjam that would tickle my untz/dance fancy, and I conceded that tDB is that superjam, with maybe Myers also on drums.
Real answer might be…
Guitar - @cshore
Bass - Victor Wooten
Drums - Kris Myers
Percussion - Mike Dillon
no vocals
Not sure about keys. Maybe John Medeski?
He is probably the “best”
Omg thank you
I’ll play along:
Drums: Kris Myers
Drums: Rory Dolan
Perc: Mike Dillon
Guitar: Nels Cline
Guitar and Vocals: Tom Hamilton
Bass: Chris Wood
Keys: Holly Bowling
Rhodes and Organ: Marco Benevento
Sax: Redman
Trumpet and Vocals: Jennifer Hartswick (although I’d prefer Roy Hargrove, but he’s not alive and not a drug band artist)
Trombone: Natalie Cressman
Mandolin and Vocals: Sierra Hull
Acoustic Guitar and Vocals: Billy Strings
It’s a super jam, right?
I have a DVD of Claypool’s Fancy band, and Dillon is doing what I can best describe as using a cloth to make squeaky sounds out of a bowl. I got to find more with him in it. He has a lot of violent energy back there.
Magz or Jamie Shields.
