You think it gonna be the same performance twice or they will play it live twice. Not that many parts vary between performances.

Jake/BB acoustic show next Thursday:

Looks like there’s a hangout session option on the purchasing site as well

For $100

Wonder if Jake being in town means they’re in the studio

I hope so, I want them to release an album after all this rona stuff. Hopefully of all new material like the good old Mantis days.

$15 for a stream…Jesus what a cash grab.

Oh wait NVM just saw that you could get a limited edition pin

KB’d

I’m sure the band has been rolling in cash with no shows since March.

Seriously can’t fault them for that, they have been doing a lot to help the crew earn money, give to charities, and earn them a few extra bucks. $15 isn’t that much money and I don’t fault them for trying to make some money when they will be the last industry to be able to go back to work.

I totally get this, but its just annoying that they charge more for less. I guarantee this wont be two sets, it will probably be an hour or something. Its like charging for that Jake interview. Billy Strings just did a whole run of shows with FOH, full light rig, etc, for 9.99 a night. Two full sets. Greensky is doing the same. I just hate that UM loves charging more for inferior products. It just always puts a really bad taste in my mouth.

None of us are really in a position to say how different bands should set prices for things like these. One band’s overhead is not necessarily equal to another’s, even if the individual event they are charging for is more or less involved. Regardless of the individual event they are putting on, UM is a large band with an even larger crew (who they also provide health insurance to), and I’m sure lots of other overhead costs that are still ongoing. If fans think the cost for a certain event is too much, they can choose not to buy it. I can even speak to that personally as I didn’t buy the Jake video and don’t know if I will buy this. But the accusations of it being a “cash grab” during these times is really unfair to them and sticks in my craw.

That is fair. I don’t blame them for wanting to make money, and getting creative. They have a lot of mouth to feed. That said, I highly doubt their overhead is much more than Billy’s or Greensky’s, and they are doing it from home without FOH, lights, venue staff, special guests, crews setting up, etc. Then you toss in the stuff like “two men likely wearing pants” and the added bonuses, and its just reeks of KB being KB.

Yeah I just really want another full band show. I’d pay $20 for two nights of that with full scale lights in a warehouse

Again, we are in no position to know with certainty, but I bet it is. Just go on UM’s site and you can see how large their crew is. And do the other band’s provide health insurance? Once again, I have no idea and you probably don’t either. And this is before even getting into other overhead costs they may have with two touring buses, their large light rig, etc. There are also costs from streaming from their homes. I know Jake had to do a lot of setup including getting internet that could handle it, plus they still had a whole video crew.

On another note, Brendan and Joel have been both providing free solo streams nearly every week for months now. And while I get those won’t pull as many fans as a full band performance, they get nary a mention here. But as soon as the band wants to charge for something, everyone is up in arms. It reeks of entitlement.

So much complaining about an optional $15 to spend to support a band that hasn’t “worked” in months and has basically no income for months.

What’s wrong with charging $15 w/ everything going? I feel like the live music industry has been one of the hardest hit. I’ll happily pay the money even if its only for an hour.

I don’t have a problem with it, jut pointing out that they nickle and dime more than the average band. Also, Greensky has a bigger light rig these days than UM, similar crew, and pretty sure the health insurance. I think its cool they are doing this, I am not hating on them for making money. Just pointing out that this was bound to get some KB comments with what you are paying vs what you are getting, and the pin and hangout VIP type options

Haven’t they been doing free streams for months now? How is a few paid streams nickel and diming?

I mean, you said it left a “bad taste in your mouth.” I would take that to mean you have a problem with it.

And again, two members have been putting on weekly free streams for months now. Is that nickle and diming, or does it not count for some reason? Do you even watch any of them, or only come out to complain when they do decide to charge for something?
