Blueprints - 2025 New Album

It’s been quite some time since I’ve felt so excited to listen to an UM album for the first time. I’ve got a fairly lengthy, solo drive later today & plan to dive into Blueprints while on a quiet stretch of freeway with not too much traffic. I can already envision the portion of the drive in which this will occur.

I’m going to try listening to this thing on shuffle and see what that experience is like.

Love this

After getting through the album this morning, this might be my favorite album since Mantis. Can’t wait for the vinyl to come.

Yeah, this is solid. Recording sounds great and largely captures the things I like about UM (quality instrumentation, sadboi stuff) while omitting the things I don’t (dad rock pop songs.)

All that said…I don’t really know that I’ll be coming back for repeat listens. Would be more likely if it was full tracks vs legos.

Sometimes it works well and flows nicely into a different lego and sometimes it DOES NOT.

Halfway through this morning on the way in. Big fan of the production of this with the spliced live in there.

as someone who didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to umbowl 2022 .. how exactly was this put together? was it recordings from stews on those dates listed in the blueprints? or was the umbowl about fans suggested favorite stews that the band should expand on? i’m really enjoying this album so far!! i just tend to throw albums on and play sequentially so i don’t even notice that it is broken into tracks.

Yah, digging this album more than I expected. Don’t like how it’s broken up into individual legos but the production sounds really good and like people have said it’s not trying to pander to a wider audience.

It’s not a huge deal in my mind, I’m not really a playlist guy though. Just seems easy enough to consciously throw the album on and let it play through.

I think breaking it up helps casual fans understand the process and how the band got from point A to B on the tunes.

Agree with your second point, but listening on Spotify (at least the web player) there was a split second hitch between legos which was super annoying. I switched to Nugs once I got to Unevolved and it’s better, plus they probably get more money for plays on Nugs.

Went straight to the ending of concessions. Good shit as expected and the album sounds great from what I’ve heard, going to give it a full listen on the drive up to the Mish.

When they are going to do a raw stewage set at umbowl, they put out a playlist ahead of time of past jams for fans to vote on. Most of the ones they end up playing now get combined into larger songs. Den was from umbowl 2012, when they were mostly if not all just single jams. Concessions is from 2024 and the rest were 2022, and those are all made of multiple jams.

spotify sucks i guess. youtube music sounded fine. i bought the mp3 from nugs and will listen later (with a player that supports gapless mp3) and i hope it’s gapless there too.

Do we know who mixed this album?

The one and only Coach. Haven’t heard it yet but hope he had some help on this one.

Ain’t no way the guy responsible for the nightly recordings had his hands on this, which sounds incredible.

Magers I think. They gave him a shout out on the stream.

Makes sense.

Can’t say this is doing much for me in general. I know it’s the intention, but it really just sounds like a higher quality live tape to me, especially with Jake’s live tone being super apparent, the sorta half-jams, etc. vocals sound nice as do the occasional added effect. Nothing drawing me back for another listen

Probably doesn’t help that I just don’t really like the songs

I figured it was Coach due to the right and left panning of the guitars.
