Billy Strings

I’ve been into folk/americana/bluegrass for a long time but o brother is probably what started my interest in it. I remember seeing it with my parents at the theaters and getting the cd for Christmas. What a goat film

I had 4 extra seated tickets for the Asheville 2/16 show (Sunday).
I got 3 offers from Cash or Trade within like 5 minutes.
The seats weren’t great - not the worst, but the top row. And I said as such.

Did that Asheville venue not get it to bad due to the hurricane?

the damage here is super situational or circumstantial.
not to generalize, but downtown was like 99% fine.
i suppose a small decorative tree planted in the sidewalk around it could have fallen onto its facade.

down by the river - super duper fucked up.
same with swannanoa, marshall, old fort, etc. hillsides near my house in woodfin (north asheville) got decimated - like 90% tree loss. other hillsides, like 5% tree loss.

edit - and of yesterday, we can drink the water again! i figure that’s a big part of why so many events got cancelled. no drinking water for 53 days

Booked flights for a quick trip to Denver for the Friday show! Will be my last travel for music for quite some time with the baby arriving in April.

Stratosphere blues/I believe in you is still my fav track from the album. It’s 100% my emotional mental state, but I well up every time hearing it.

In my younger days I probably would have driven down for this. Have a blast!

First set was fun. My friend texted me and said he’s at Wilco at Cain’s down the street and ran into Wombat Matt. Can’t escape this ding dong.

Does anyone know what this dude did to accumulate all the $ he spends being on perma-tour? Family money, I assume?

He’s just better than all of us, duh

Yeah it’s family money. He also has family in Oklahoma. The multiple times I’ve ran into him, he always says he works on the road, which is total bullshit. He’s annoying, but he’s always been nice to me and has bought me beers. Sippin.
