That’s that good UM. Great start to the New Year! Fun ass run. Happy Chicago got a strong hometown throwdown
Fantastic jajunder preshunk
Both nights beez knees…
That set 1 is faf. Whole show is tight. Choice covers and Sammy’s. I don’t like booth love, but nice bangers throughout.
What was the post show music?
Cousin Eli afterparty.
How was this?
Very solid crowd pleaser, perfect in the moment.
Jokingly, I replied “Front Porch set” to a Joel asking fans what they want to hear tonight post on IG yesterday morning, and I’d like to think that was why there was a Front Porch segment last night.
Hard for me to think of the last multi-night run in Chicago that UM did, that was good and this well received.
My experience has seen it where Chicago is usually the “bring the family to work day” cuz my 3-show count in the Chicago area is all of them having Bayliss mentioning family being there. With the later start time, i think they were free from obligations, hence they were a little looser. Recency biased, but i really can’t think of a better way to kick off this year.
Scotty is really settling in, and as mentioned, UM really needs to re-evaluate their audio situation. I don’t get how every adjustment they try to make from a show to show basis, they can’t handle without something else being way off. There’s bands with way less experience and way less money, that sound a thousand times better, and as someone said before, that’s not how you win more engagement.
OTTOMH, Silent Type and Attachments are early JOTY nominees.
I’m super grateful that all of the attendees got a pair of killer shows. I’m definitely a little bummed that I didn’t push myself to make it to at least one of these shows, but with Spafford in town for 12/29-12/31, and upcoming gathering for my bday, I had to choose to sit these out. I’ll echo the sentiment of it being great to see such a well received pair of Chicago shows these days. Here’s to hoping this trend continues, but I won’t get my hopes up too high.
Setlists look fun. Glad everyone had a good time and the shows were so well received. I miss liking UM. Will probably never happen again, but i still miss it.
No Frasco sit-in feels like a major win
I was thinking that exact thing. To be honest, the assumption that he would make his way into UM’s sets was partially why I didn’t push myself harder to make these. From my perspective, the only big turd which was laid in these shows is the EATH popping up the 1st nght, but even that wouldn’t have completely soured my experience.
This is exactly why i have FOMO right now, and missing a Front Porch because of it really stings.
Bummer. When i saw you post about how happy you were during Front Porch i figured that meant you decided to bite the bullet and go. Would it have been first Front Porch?
Yes. Beyond not wanting to see Frasco, I was only going to go if i could swing some kind of lodging, and with my wife losing her job 2 weeks before Christmas, I couldn’t justify it. So, I set myself up for a weekend of couch tour and free fungus, and still had fun . Sorry if my setlist quality suffered, but sorry, i like to party.
Up on Nugs.
That was a really fun weekend.
You crush setlist duty
Agreed and cheers for doing it!
My only complaint is with notating returns to songs / endings of songs as “reprises” - cuz they’re not really reprises… they’re just the end of the song
I’m not saying my take is “right” (it’s a subjective/style thing) - only that it irrational irks me and I dunno why lol. Def a “me” problem.
Ty for your strong setlist duties @SchladopianFir
IMO it’s a reprise if and when it is played on its own without the first portion. e.g., Tweeprise (puke)
Edit: maybe that was obv and did not need explanation lol
