2025 Winter Ter

Im sure there will be a summer date. Chicago is arguably their strongest market, they should definitely be playing two shows a year here.

Using AI isn’t as huge of a deal as people are making of it but it just comes off as lazy and cheap IMO. Especially when you’re a group of musicians trying to make a living off your art. No, a 5 second image isn’t going to make or break a graphic designer’s career but it’s a solid contact that could lead to more work and a couple hundred pucks in their pocket. The gig economy feeds other people who live off the gig economy. That includes photogs, graphic designers, A/V techs and whoever else.

Most AI art has been speculation/land grabs, and the vast majority will be shit. But the underlying technology is here to stay. Call them by whatever name but they’ll be ubiquitous in 3-5 years. You might be asking, ubiquitous for what? You name it. Concert tickets, the title to your house, memberships to anything, your mortgage etc. AI art is simply a verifiable digital asset. In an increasingly blended world of IRL & online, proof of ownership in a secure, verifiable way will be paramount. The ability to engage & reward using AI art will be a game changer.

I’m sure my previous comment about selling furniture and honeymoon money could apply to this too. Why pay when KB can use some AI prompt to do something? This is the slippery slope that nobody wanted when AI became applicable for business, and it’s gonna get even worse.

It’s a tough line. I’ve been spending a lot of time using the app procreate so I can make gig art in house for my own music. I don’t think musicians are obligated or owe visual artists anything imo. Anything I can do on my own I’m going to.

It’s pretty incredible the amount of detail you can get on the page quickly. For example, I was trying to make some grass yesterday and you can just make one custom blade of grass and use it as a brush and have a whole lawn drawn up in seconds.

Honestly this didn’t take much longer than it would have to have ai draw grass, probably quicker tbh.

Hoping nobody is friends with @kevinbrowning nor that he lurks here sometimes. Otherwise he’s gonna come across this and BAM, ya get 6 robots in Morocco

Nobody here is cool enough to be KB’s friend.

I was hoping there would be reserved balcony at the Riverside for us old folks but it looks like the whole venue will be GA? At least it looks that way through the UM presale.

That’s the way it’s always been. They usually keep center balcony reserved for UM VIP. Honestly best seats in the house are the first level right before you are under the balcony. Sound and sight lines are perfect.

Ah yeah that’s right. I don’t think I’ve been there since the 2015 Halloween run.

Yup. Always need to spend one night of a three night run in this spot. The rest of the runs are usually spent in the balcony with all the homies, which is fine because the riverside has one of the best balconies around. Only spot there that isn’t that isn’t that great is back of the lower level and under the balcony. Sound isn’t so great the further back you get.

I’m sure they do to some degree, but we’ve often seen NYE runs announced fairly late, and sometimes in surprising locations. I mean, Joel is saying this year’s NYE run sales could have an effect on next year’s CO plans. They’re still figuring shit out.

I asked my friend who is a promoter in Austin that doesn’t lurk on this board yesterday if it was likely Umphreys has 2025 NYE holds and he agreed with you they are most likely still figuring out that far down the road.

Balcony is indeed fully reserved for this one. The UM presale allotment through Seated is just in the GA Pit, but the balcony is available currently through Pabst Theater Group.

This is bullshit, we’d have Fall Terr in the NE every other year and it’s been since FUCKING 2014 SINCE WE DID

Along with the Penn’s Peak, would luv to squeeze in the weekend @TheCap. Haven’t been up there in a few moons && it’s a great venue. Then get the classic Dominos after the show. Maybe baby, maybe
