This second set is really good. 1348 was prob my favorite. Even the Tinkles is interesting

I just listened again, and this set is very good. TBH they crushed the 2nd set all weekend.

lol at Jake just yelling the Higgins backup vocals

Tossed second set on due to the praise and have been really surprised

Nothing has blown me away but it has caught my attention for sure. Band sounds refreshed. Kris or not, this is good and interesting UM. I havent been able to say that about the band much the past decade even with Kris. The fact that it is only 3 shows in is very promising as well. Tons of room to grow. If anything it forces them all to be on their toes more. Harder to phone it in when youre not sure what the rest of the band is going to be saying

Good for him. Has to feel good to crush with a band you grew up loving

I wouldnt have even noticed there was a change if i didnt know or wasnt paying attention. The only difference i have noticed is that the music is actually interesting again

Now i am kinda salty they are playing bumfuck Missouri instead of St. Louis. Kinda itching for a show now

You can tell that he’s less busy, especially with the elaborate cymbal rolls and swells. Seems like he doesn’t hit as hard either.

He does the quarter note pulse with his left hi hat foot in spots Myers didn’t, probably just helps him keep time. Snare is tuned lower too. All of these observations probably inconsequential to most ears.

I’ve been noticing a lot of Andy stuff in these shows that I don’t remember hearing with Kris. I’m putting that down to Scotty’s less busy playing.

Yea also listening on speakers while reviewing dozens of resumes. Want to listen with headphones and dab rig later

Had the same thoughts as well. Kris for sure dominated that area of the sound, or at least that’s who I attributed it to when listening

Easily top 3 venue ever attended, not a bad sight line, finally listening back, this 1348, whoa

Definitely considering making the trek to Yuba, WI in August. 1348 is hot.

If the High Point 2nd set is more about laid back freeform jamming, this 2nd set is about turning the dial up to 11 on a Saturday night. But while that might have led to some groans in the past, both this 1348 and Tinkle’s are seriously impressive in that regard. The best way to keep these jams from running out of steam is relentless creativity and musical themes, and there is definitely plenty of that to go around.
