The biggest shocker here is the Popper DIDN’T sit in on WWS.
That was fun. Ended so early. Stupid Napa and their noise ordinances. It was over at 10pm.
Venue is the shit. Like a little resort village with restaurants, food trucks, wine bars. Even a grocery store. Bunch of lounge areas. Backdrop of hills of vineyards. Looking forward to coming back for the Adrian Belew BEAT show later this year.
Pretty hard pass on this show based on setlist
Show is up.
They aren’t a one set band. They try squeezing so much into a show when they only play one set. Solid Mantis to start the show though.
Your point is quite obvious on the first night. The last few songs were neutered probably because they lost track of time early on
Stasik playing the Receiver (the New Deal) bass line in this Mantis jam
Mantis is tight. Popper served his purpose during the sit in, and i didn’t mind it.
Small strides best jam, bridgeless is a pretty unique jam that’s worth a listen
Yeah I recall enjoying Small Strides the most.
A bit of a Home feel from Stasik starting around 9:20 in Small Strides too
Small Strides appears to be the most productive vehicle in the catalog right now, but that’s not surprising to me. I knew this song would keep getting better and better.
I agree but would like to add that Escape Goat has been nothing been consistently good since it’s debut too. TBH, they’ve done far better with this album than I thought they would’ve.
Pure Saturation too although the song itself isn’t in the same realm as the other two. But tons of songs from this album that are bringing out lots of good playing from UM
New Wings is my least favorite. I keep listening to Fenced In, and thinking that at some point they’re going to 2-jam it.
They totally fumbled a great opportunity to have Popper sit-in on WW&S. Literally has a harmonica on the studio cut - ah well, he still sounds good on the 2 he guested in on though
That’s too early bruv
