KB is going to create an Umphrey’s betting app for live shows, but the caveat is you have to spend crypto. It will then be applied to your UM xyz account.
Daniel Donato started the jam off with this great melodic ascending riff. The pace of the jam was similar to some of the slow grooves Cosmic Country was playing in their set, which was fantastic btw. The jam culminated with a Jake/DD duel, where Jake played all over DD. They were having a lot of fun though and it was cool to watch.
Small Strides was great and had my whole fam raging. I listened back to a bit of the 1st set and thought Kitchen and PS had great moments. Thought the stretched out Life in Exodus was cool too.
My reaction too. Thought it was a cool change of pace.
Overall S2 was a slight letdown from where S1 landed. Still a solid show
I liked AIT and Strides but it felt like it was meh afterwards.
AiT never really got anywhere for me. A fun groove with Jake on top for 5 minutes, then another cool groove but that never took off. Not bad per se, just not the rocketship I was hoping for.
I did like Strides though agreed
Seemed like the jams had a lot of dueling guitar peaks, which isn’t my favorite type of UM jamming. They seem to think that’s what Utah likes because it’s been like that almost every show I’ve seen them here. I prefer more patient, drawn out experimentation with lots of cues and group changes rather than double guitar peaks in every tune. Oh well, I still had a great time.
You and I have the same improv preference
Also agree with this. I know it’s their crutch when the inspiration isn’t completely dialed in, and it’s def a crowd pleaser in the moment but we know they can do better.
I like the build up/segmented jams that get progressively rowdy-er. Being hard of hearing, guitar building is hard to pick up for me, so a nasty Pony bassline or Joel leading the way is also usually a go to for me unless it’s a solid board where I can hear the BayBliss kinda sound.
