2024/04/11 The Sylvee - Madison, WI

Not sure when else it’s happened, but immediately thought of the 3/22/07 Madison Eat > Crooked One > Fuzz > Crooked One > Eat last night.

Last night smoked, best Madison show in quite some time!

Thought I heard a Smell the Mitten tease in Mail Package and Billie Jean in Escape Goat. 1348, Staircase, Escape Goat, Nemo, Tinkle’s, Nurse and Draconian are all worth the listen, but really just a great all around show.

It’s on my “to-do” list

StL '14 and 03/22/07 were the only two i could think of

12/29/08 has the Plunger > The Bottom Half > Plunger > The Bottom Half which is a really fun listen, but not the same

Cinnamon Girl bust-out is nice to see pop up, too

This made me think of @CarpetCrawler mentioning that the only Madison show he’s missed was because Neil Young was in Milwaukee the same night. Glad you made it last night Josh!

Holy shit even more rare than I thought if that’s the case. I assumed they had done it at least a handful of times, if not more.

They have actually played it more than i realized

I thought 12/29/06 and that weird Chatanooga high school prom show were the only times it had been played

Either way, huge bust-out

Has to be a Joel setlist.

Easily best show I’ve seen since pre covid/2019. Really not a single shitty song played, they picked the ideal new songs for my taste.

The last time I can recall Cinammon Girl being played was in 2013. I want to say it was either in Buffalo or Burlington but don’t hold me to that. It was somewhere in the NE, at least :joy:

Between setlist last night and the 25 mins Mantis (even if it didnt do much for me) there are signs that maybe they are trying to try

I think they’re still regaining their groove with post-surgery Myers but there is definitely a lot of progress happening. Only show I’ve caught this year is Seattle, and it was good, but not as good as when I saw them in Missoula last year.

That was actually the 4th time I’ve caught UM covering that. Their debut on 12/30/06, Summerfest ‘07, Bluebird ‘08 & last night. Also saw the 7/31/97 Phish debut in California.

…and yes, also to @LarrySellers point, the only Madison UM show I’ve missed since 12/1/2001 was the June ‘03 Terrace show when Neil Young was in MKE. Thanks to @DiabetesCOLE that streak continues. I had not planned to go last night and was only gonna do GB, but Cole made an offer I couldn’t refuse. What a great experience & can’t thank him enough. :beers:

Glad you came, Josh! Great hangs last night. I feel like Midwest crew has adopted Mollie and I and we’re not complaining.

So many more UM highlights ever since the Penns Peak show compared to how 2024 started out. They finally figured out the dance yams are bringing the creativity.

Attendence bias, but I felt like the philly shows preceding penn’s started to pick up the pace.

Working my way through this show this morning. Really solid playing all around. Definitely a few songs I’d have liked to hear this weekend but nothing that really hurts bad. Making me hyped for tonight.

Cinnamon Girl track time is 2:33. Didn’t know UM could play a song so short.

Bummed to have missed a hometown UM show but wasn’t in the cards. Glad you all got a great looking show and had fun. Next time.

Skimming through seems like the best jams were NN and Drac

Sounds fine on tape. The latter half of Wizard starts with Joel solo piano.
