Definitely feels like there’s been a same-ness to the jams lately. Despite them still generally keeping the amount of improv up I’ve been losing interest in continuing to listen to new shows.
They’re creative, I’m sure they can find something else to peak on past the rawk peak. Like a dissonance peak or D&B peak, odd meter peak would be interesting. They can do it, they just gotta stop using the “I must peak this stew now or else how will they know we’re rawking” thing.
While I really enjoyed the NYE shows, I felt they suffered from this a bit. Listening back or hell, even in the moment I would be thinking “where the hell did this peak come from, we were just riding a nice groove”.
Love the return of the bounceback Stews tho! They’re moving in the right direction, they just gotta find their step more consistently
Mfer said dissonance pean
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I absolutely adore my work phones autocorrect
Some of them forsure, but Walletsworth seemed fresh and unique, at least to me.
Meh, loved that WW. Love that tune and nice to see em stretch it. But just followed one theme throughout. Not an example of “fresh and unique” imo. Just a standard UM jam.
RR Slacker is the business though. And fits the “fresh and unique” bill.
Booth love, the triple wide and night nurse in the same set.hmm. Being a bad dancer would have been a plus for me.
BTL is just a great song wow.
They must have had some serious jams they liked to cut 2 longer songs from the second set.
