2022 JOTY Discussion

Then you had the ITK > Higgins > ITK, MO, and Jajunk from 04/05/08, and the Push the Pig from the Dekalb shooting memorial show on 04/08/08. Good week for the band.

Edit: should prop listen back to that Dekalb show again sometime. Feel like there was more bangers than just the Pig.

Probably happened before this but this is definitely one of my earliest iClips memories

Was a wild evening in the Lou. One of the most rowdy bort hotel crew evenings I have ever been apart of. Not in a good way, either. Pretty much anyone who was staying at Crown Plaza got escorted from the property by police at like 5am.

Chris Essig, Bob Callahan, and I had a WEIRD drive back to EIU that morning.

Can’t/won’t argue it. One of my favorite jams of all time.

Forgot about this 2nd set opener, shame on me

7/14/22 Ringo is another good one. 2 jams for about 14m of improv and that second jam slays. That tasty jazz funk groove w/ the drippy Bayliss textures echo deep into my soul.

12/29/11 is just so good in general. Definitely in my top 10 seen shows.

I’m sure I’m being a dumb newb, but I’ve been stuck on a BLBC 2nd set opener from 10/24/10. It’s not the longest, but it’s got a nice little Stasik bass party in there. Definitely rec if you’re looking to dance. Nice little Ghostbustersish tease towards the end.

Sounds like the same baseline from the bonafide lovin at 2011 umbowl

Just listened. Thanks for the mention. Love it.

Definitely feels like there’s a more recent jam out there with this groove but no way I ever think of it

11/11/22 DBK 2nd jam is up there for me.

Edit: its not long enough, but just a great vibe. I dont mind short as much if its actually unique.

From 14ish to 20 minutes?

Yea, has a Fall '13 feel to it. Putting it in JOTY discussion is a stretch, but i love the theme and sounds they were producing.

Exactly what I thought when they started. I was like, “Mellotron? OK Joel. I see you.”

I’m pretty sure in the UM Bowl thread, I posted right after they dropped abruptly back into the BB solo section that they should have milked it a little more.

I was at the 12/29/11 show then went to bisco in Chicago the following 2 nights.

Yea, a lot of folks i knew did that. I had a room at Moonrise so just rode the high of being able to look out my window to see how long the line to get in was.

I wouldnt be surprised if they come back down here for some future NYE run. Not sure it would be the Pageant, but maybe Factory in Chesterfield. GSBG was supposed to do NYE there last year. Deadmau5 is doing NYE this year. Pretty safe market for them as well.
